being from laois i will have to discuss o moore park first and i have to say that parking will be a nightmare there now that the county council have sold the land around it ,that was used for paking during matches, for developement. shticknball (Laois) - Posts: 58 - 11/12/2008 15:30:57 162120 Link 0 |
Has to be Croker. Thomond pk would be second. Thurles has a decent atmosphere but it's a hole. Gaelic grounds in Limerick worth a mention. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 4012 - 11/12/2008 15:35:35 162128 Link 0 |
i take it you havent been to the gaelic grounds then? I dont knwo where this misconception comes from that its a "great stadium"!! Liamwalkinstown (Dublin) - Posts: 8166 - 11/12/2008 15:46:58 162152 Link 0 |
Croke Park. One of the best in the world. men_of_49 (Meath) - Posts: 2004 - 11/12/2008 15:51:50 162158 Link 0 |
Croker, Thurles,Killarney, Salthill and hopefully Hyde Park in the future. Thomond Park? Too small. Real Kerry Fan (None) - Posts: 2957 - 11/12/2008 15:53:19 162163 Link 0 |
did i hear corectly that cork are planning further development of pairc ui rinn?!!!!what a waste of money!we already have too many stadiums and surely to do this cannot be profitable!! shticknball (Laois) - Posts: 58 - 11/12/2008 15:59:53 162172 Link 0 |

Liam ok you have a point about sitting in the rain. But thurles? It's a hole aswell. No comfort whatsoever. Remember being at a double header there years ago when I was a lad. By god that was painful. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 4012 - 11/12/2008 16:10:36 162191 Link 0 |
Agree with the first two Daytona... but the gaelic grounds is a terrible stadium **** covered stand (better view from the terrace), ok they've improved the pitch itself decent surface now... they should have knocked the stadium to the ground and started again one of my least favourite grounds. fitzgerald park in killarney is a hole: 1. Croke Park (Even though you dont get a good view from the hill, but still go there anyway) 2. Thurles (Good all round stadium) 3. Cork (The terraces are the best in Ireland) 4. Limerick (has gotten better, parking *****, Liamwalkinstown thats why its called an uncovered stand dah) they rest are fairly poor compared to the four above. giveheralash (Limerick) - Posts: 53 - 11/12/2008 16:47:17 162235 Link 0 |

Not fond of Healy Park or ballybofey. A packed Clones is the most enjoyable atmosphere in the world, much more craic than Croker. Not the greatest facilities but the atmosphere and memories more than make up for it. trileacman (Tyrone) - Posts: 759 - 11/12/2008 17:37:34 162306 Link 0 |
3inarow08 i aploigise i was at a couple of munster finals there and had some good banter there. suppose cant be too bad if there are some decent concerts there over the summer. giveheralash (Limerick) - Posts: 53 - 11/12/2008 18:25:27 162376 Link 0 |
Croke Park is the best stadium, but then again it is the national stadium, shame they never got to finish Croke Park, the open end at Hill 16 seems like a throw back to the dark ages. cmx (Monaghan) - Posts: 446 - 11/12/2008 18:42:39 162390 Link 0 |
paddyogall..Not until its up-dated that it can be mentioned in all fairness. Its in a fair state now and improvement is badly needed. conor15 (None) - Posts: 347 - 11/12/2008 18:58:26 162404 Link 0 |
i agree pearse stadium is very nice to play on,but iv never witnessed a great atmosphere there for a hurling match!maybe its different for the bogball?its also fairly akward for parking but sure arent they all! shticknball (Laois) - Posts: 58 - 11/12/2008 19:25:34 162433 Link 0 |

the one drawback on croker is the fact that its situated in a..shall we say rather disadvantaged area. i have frequently had to pay sum person a tenner to 'look after' my car,the only reason i gave it to them is because o ne time my friend didnt pay up and came out of the match to find his tyres slashed!you wudnt get that carry on anywhere else in ireland! shticknball (Laois) - Posts: 58 - 11/12/2008 19:40:57 162449 Link 0 |
Obviously Croker is ten million lightyears ahead from the rest but on a county ground level from where ive been to games... spudenator (Laois) - Posts: 1052 - 11/12/2008 20:01:18 162463 Link 0 |
