This a disgrace. Tony Kernan should have walked as well. Or should i say long before he got his yellow. I think cross are getting away with a lot out there. Dellboypolecat (Tyrone) - Posts: 15069 - 30/11/2008 16:20:46 153360 Link 0 |

The derry boys got a deserved draw .Thought the cross got away with to much off the ball stuff. Dellboypolecat (Tyrone) - Posts: 15069 - 30/11/2008 18:08:09 153393 Link 0 |

I think it definitely takes two to tango. It was not a dirty game but was very physical. I do not think Ballinderry shyed away from the physical side of it. Tony McEntee should appeal his sending off as it was not deserved and I felt that the referee punished some overcarrying by Crossmaglen in the second half which was very harsh (two incidents in particular, once by Oisin McConville and once by Michael McNamee before he got sent off). bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 30/11/2008 18:42:19 153416 Link 0 |

McEntee's red card was a joke, the Ballinderry player's dive was as bad as I've seen in a gaelic match and only for that I don't think they would have recovered for the draw. Having said that I'm still glad my money on Ballinderry for the AI is safe for another week! It was a dirty game all round though and the ref didn't help matters. mid-mon man (Monaghan) - Posts: 1680 - 30/11/2008 20:13:12 153452 Link 0 |

It was a bit dirty. Cross tried to bully Ballinderry but fair play to them the Derry side held firm. They don't buckle easy the mountainy men from the Sperrins. Cross try to impose their physical side over teams and it usually works but didn't this time. Cross get away with a lot of off the ball stuff and some of their challenges are over the top. If they just concentrated on the football they would most of these matches anyway. They will win the replay. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9840 - 30/11/2008 22:47:41 153515 Link 0 |

Even though i backed Ballinderry to win the game i felt they were very lucky to draw. The display of refereeing was pathetic and i hope he does not get the replay. Enjoyable game with plenty of handling mistakes by both teams. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 30/11/2008 22:52:06 153517 Link 0 |

bennybunny - Conal Martin is from the Eglish Club here in Tyrone - probably means nothing to you but it is the same club the late Cormac Mc Anallen played for. Cormac and Conal were big mates. Conal has an all-ireland u21 medal as far as I know (i might be wrong) and has made it on to the Tyrone Senior panel a few times. bocerty (Tyrone) - Posts: 539 - 30/11/2008 23:16:29 153525 Link 0 |

didnt see it myself but listened to it on radio. The commentator was pretty sure it was Ballinderry who were the aggressors trying to ruffle the Cross boys. Cross are no angels but listening to the commentry it sounded like the Ballinderry lads were doing there best to get Cross involved in stupid stuff. Was Tony Kernan sent off? Thought it was McNamee and McEntee. Commentator said that the guy Bell was clearly sent on to do a job with McNamee and a few minutes into the second half got him sent off. Regardless of what went on it sounded like a cracking match between two brilliant teams and im sure the replay will be a good game too. samin10 (Armagh) - Posts: 2434 - 01/12/2008 09:16:36 153572 Link 0 |

ballinderry play acting was an absolute disgrace yesterday, it didn't show it on the tv but they actively targeted francie bellew, john mcentee and paul kernan and tried to get them sent off. lying on the ground clutching their faces as if they were hit off the ball when nothing happened. This is very cynical and was obviously a game plan of, ok we can't beat cross man to man so we'll get a few of them red and yellow cards and that'l stop them. This was a disgrace for Derry football and a long long way from the excellent Bellaghy sides that used to represent the county so honourably. By the way dellboy I take it you know what a square ball is......!? Tom1916 (Armagh) - Posts: 2001 - 01/12/2008 09:17:50 153573 Link 0 |

McEntee was victim of as spectacular a dive you'll see outside of Duffy's Circus. Ref was poor but in fairness he would need to have about eight pairs of eyes to keep up with all the stuff going on there between diving and knees into the back of the thigh on his blind side - obviously a newly honed training ground skill we can expect to see gracing our pitches next year. It was exciting because it was close but desperate stuff in terms of every other aspect of the game. Even a poor enough Munster hurling final was way better on any level. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 01/12/2008 09:28:13 153577 Link 0 |

Ulsterman sounds as if he knows about as much as gregory campbell. i wonder were he was standing at the game to give such a detailed analysis. Tom1916 (Armagh) - Posts: 2001 - 01/12/2008 10:59:56 153663 Link 0 |

I dont no what game a lot of you were watching but ballinderry were by far the dirty team on the field and mcentee sending off was a complete and utter joke, i think the problem with cross is they are so sucessful everyone wants to see them beat or be little them the same way people do kerry. cross were the better team on the day and i think ballinderry were lucky to get a draw. the refree was useless fiannablue (Tyrone) - Posts: 326 - 01/12/2008 11:12:33 153671 Link 0 |

well said fiannablue, that is the correct analysis and fair play to you for speaking the truth. Tom1916 (Armagh) - Posts: 2001 - 01/12/2008 11:25:37 153681 Link 0 |

Thought it was a super game of football but was ruined by the referee. Firstly just by looking at him you could see his fitness wasn't up to much and as a result he was always 30 yards behind the play therefore missing everything. The free in he gave Balinderry for their goal was a joke and should have been a free out. Overall it had everything you wanted in a game of Gaelic Football, big hits, direct play and some super scores from both sides. If ever you want a game to show kids how Gaelic football should be played than to me that is one of them blueisthecolour (Louth) - Posts: 151 - 01/12/2008 12:10:48 153707 Link 0 |

have to say worst refffing performance in many a day, from a tyrone man as well. he was unbelieveably biased in some of his ballinderry decisions last 10 mins. im sure the tv and video resolution will exonerate john mcentee. great pity as this had the makings of a classic, please put mcenaneny in charge for the replay. bigfinger (Tyrone) - Posts: 203 - 01/12/2008 12:32:28 153726 Link 0 |

blueisthecolour, I agree with you that it was exciting to watch but you can't blame the ref. He was obviously fooled by the Ballinderry player who got McEntee sent off but who's fault is that? If players are dishonest then it is hard to decide what is happening. Same with other incidents where players were rolling around. Normally you would give them the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately in top level football with the amount of cheating that goes on you would need to be clairvoyant to decide whether a player is acting or not. And contrast that to the DLS/Adare game where the only players requiring attention had taken heavy knocks - accidental for the most part - and got up quickly. For example the Adare full forward Costello. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 01/12/2008 13:13:49 153763 Link 0 |
