Tyrone final suspensions- fair?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

"Dromore manager Noel McGinn has been handed a 72-week ban arising from his headbutt on a Clonoe substitute in Sunday's Tyrone County Football Final.
Clonoe player Emmett Teague has been given a 32-week ban for his retaliatory headbutt on the Dromore boss.
As a result, Teague is ruled out of the Ulster Club SFC as is his team-mate Colin Doris who gets an eight-week ban.
Clonoe assistant Harry McClure has got a 12-week ban while Dromore keeper Peter Ward gets an eight-week ban.
In addition, both clubs were handed £500 fines - the maximum fines available to the Tyrone Competitions Control Committee.
First off, Clonoe players Teague and Doris will miss Sunday's Ulster Club game against St Eunan's at Coalisland."

says the BBC, are the suspensions fair?

"while Emmet O'Neill has also been hit with a two-month ban for a separate incident earlier on in the game"

So presumably he was sent off for just more than striking??

I don't know, I had a feeling that these suspensions would be big after the stand Derry took from incidents in their county final. Either way, everyone will appeal and get a few weeks taken off and everyone will be happy....

no i think Peter Ward should have been given a longer suspension and the suspension on Colm Doris was a bit harsh.

To be fair doris should have got longer than eight weeks for stamping its a coards action to stamp on a man when he is on the ground, im sure most of the clonoe people would agree on that.

Dont understand suspensions. I think that boy on about clonoe number 12 stamping!!!! was talking to doris briefly on sunday night in second half twice mc donough or ward or what ever you call him came out and stamped on him he said to same umpire who stood and watched mcginn head butting clonoe sub can you put a stop to this he called ref down had a word with umpire and booked him unreal.

Ward got away in the smoke. He started the whole thing. He's been a bit of a liability for a while and maybe that explains why he is no longer anywhere near the county scene. Should have been made to pay a bigger price for his nonsense.

yea i think they did get mixed up in the doris's because it might have been patrick doris did the stamping because he was getting more abuse and hitting from the dromore players because he was doing most of the scoring.

clonoe seem to be hit harder with the suspensions than dromore,
2 young players miss out in a first round ulster club game while the 2 dromore mens year is almost over.
noel mcginn should not be allowed on a football field any day of the week for the next 72 weeks but his sentences allows him to train a team tuesday and thursday and manage from outside the wire on a sunday.
the county board sent all clubs a timetable of what time they should take the field for sundays final and the sequence of photographs and the national athem it is about time they also had a interval between both teams leaving the pitch at half time and full time, this has been a flash point on numerous occasions throughout ireland where both teams have collided at thes intervals.

Yeah ward started the fight but did he make the others fight aswell? 8 week ban all ward deserved!... to start a fight then run into the changing roms!. As for Mc Ginn 72 weeks is a bit much, and i think the clonoe sub he hit done a bit of play acting!

Ward deserved more, i'd say all in all McGinn & Teagues were fair enough.
I cant see them being shortened much if they appeal, i'd say the decision that has been made will be stuck to.

typical McGinn tactics- it would be good enough for him there's enough evidence i think for an assault charge to stand up in Court... mmmmmm..... as for Ward he got off light for the one who started it all dingo by name comes to mind.... thats just my opinion.... am away here for another drink out of the O'Neill Cup... u gotta sing when your winnin
