Clonduff Club Notes

October 26, 2012
APOLOGY
Sincere apologies to Rián Branagan, Patrick O'Hagan, Sean Downey, David Quinn and Daire Brown whose names were omitted from the Clonduff Minor Panel - these lads were all an integral part of the League Championship winning team but were missing on the day of the final through injury.

The minor management and players would like to thank Pauline and Harry, Downshire Arms for sponsoring the meal for everyone on the evening of the League Final.

Congratulations to our neighbours Kilcoo on winning their eleventh county senior football title on Sunday and to Warrenpoint who collected the Intermediate title.
Congratulations to Patrick Hannaway Cathal Murray and Dominic Brannagan who were among the members of the 1987 All Ireland winning Down minor Football team who received presentations at the county football final in Newry on Sunday last, Mark Mathews was also a member of the panel.

Best wishes to Rían Branagan and the Down Colleges Hurling team who play St Mary's Belfast in the Mageean Senior A Ulster Colleges Final in Casement Park on Thursday night 25th October. The Down lads defeated Garron Tower in Quarter Final and Ballycastle in the Semi Final to reach their first Final!

This must take place prior to sending out material for Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 28th November

Inter County Blitz in Clonduff Park
Clonduff Park played host to the inter county U14 football blitz on Saturday 20th October organised by South and East Down Youth Boards. Five regional development squads with A and B teams from South Down, East Down, South Armagh, East Tyrone and Louth participated in the glorious sunshine - such a rare commodity!

It was a great festival of juvenile football with each team playing the other in their section. In the A Final East Tyrone defeated East Down; in the B Final Louth defeated South Armagh Down.
A big thank you to the legions of Clonduff members who turned up to help out on the day - stewarding, tuck shop, endless supplies of tea/coffee, Sandwiches, Burgers, serving and clearing up after the lunch. It was certainly appreciated by South and East Down Boards and the many visitors! Well done everybody!

Congratulations to St Patrick's Primary School on winning their first ever Canon Esler Shield in St Patrick's Park Newcastle on Friday night.
Congratulations also to our Senior Handball team of Paul Shields, Sean McNally, Colin Shields, Conor Brown and Eddie Clancy who retained the County Team title.

Best wishes also to Clonduff III who play Drumgath II in the Final of the Fr Davies Shield on Sunday 28th October in An Riocht at 2 pm.
Best wishes to Ryan McShane and Mark Copeland who have joined the Down Ladies managerial set-up as team trainers. Ryan and Mark (along with Ciarán McGreevy) managed the Clonduff Senior Ladies for the last three seasons.

Hard luck to Sean McNally who was defeated 2-0 by Padraig Maguire in World Silver Masters B Final in the City West Arena, Dublin on Wednesday 17th October.
