Termon GAA Notes
Pride of place this week goes to the U-14 Team that won the County Championship Final last Sunday in McCumhaill Park. They beat Convoy on a final score of 3.8 to 2.6. Termon scorers were Dean Mc Gahey (0.4), Charles Gallagher (1.1), Jimmy Kelly (1.1), Geraldine Mc Laughlin (1.0) and Pauric Mc Cafferty (0.2). Termon led at half time 1.4 to 2 points and started the second have ideally when they scored another goal minutes after the throw in. However Convoy rallied and brought the sides level at 2.6 apiece midway through the second half. As the game hung in the balance, Termon proved they were the hungrier for success and ran out 5 point winners. This was a great team performance and bodes well for the future of the club. If a man of the match award was on offer, Jason Hegerty, playing in the half back line, would just about edge it above players like Dean Mc Gahey and Jimmy Kelly. He covered every blade of grass on the pitch as well as keeping his man in check throughout. Congratulations to the team and also to the management of Paul Gallen, PJ Kelly and Don Gallagher for their terrific commitment throughout the year. U-12's are asked to check local press to see if a blitz is organised for this weekend.
To celebrate Halloween the club is holding a fancy dress Disco in the Lagoon on Sunday Night, the 30th October. DJ for the night is the very talented DJ Funky Monkey. Fancy Dress is a must, with spot prizes for best dressed. Admission is only E5 and the show will kick off at approx 10.00 pm. The Annual Dinner Dance is arranged for Friday the 18th of November, tickets are now on sale, priced E20. Music is by B and J Sound.
There are a number of coaching courses taking place over the coming weeks; details can be got from the clubhouse or by contacting Paul Doherty. Anyone with any items/photographs/reports for inclusion in the Year Book please contact Maggie Doherty on 0877965339 ASAP.
Congratulations to Katrina Gallagher and Shane Mc Daid who are getting married on Saturday. Katrina is an ex ladies player while Shane is looking forward to wearing the maroon and white next year. Congratulations also to Jonanne Sweeney who got engaged recently.
The Lotto numbers for Friday 14th October were 1, 5, 19 and 22. Congratulations to Mary Doherty who was the only one to match 3 numbers and won herself E60. Open draw winners were Ben Lecky and Anthony Mc Grenra. Next weeks draw takes place in Glenveagh Inn and the Jackpot E550. Coordinators for the night are Brid Kelly, Hugh Kelly and PJ Kelly.
