Senior Scor semi finals and finals took place in the Desertmartin and Glenullin at the weekend. Representing Glen were Novelty Act; Dymptna Cassidy, Kevin Brolly, Jimmy McCloy, Conor Molloy & Niall Mallon. Ceili and Set Dancing; Aileen Convery, Aislinn Millar, Maureen McWilliams, Sinead Rogers, Carlus McWilliams, Sean Woods, Paul Woods & JD McLaughlin. Solo singing; Alison Bradley. Recitation; Dymptna Cassidy.
Ballad group; Alison Bradley, Carla Bradley, Orlagh Bradley, Aileen McKenna & Aislinn Millar. Quiz team Joe McHugh, Ciaran Molloy, Paddy Molloy & Joe McQuillan. Glen emerged victorious in the Ceili Dancing, Solo Singing and Recitation and gained second place in the rest of the competitions. Glen received the award of most dedication to Scor in Derry for 2009. Well done to everyone who took part. The winners will now progress to the Ulster semi final on Saturday 7th March in the Glenties Donegal. Good luck to all the Derry participants involved.
Practicing is ongoing for the fourth installment of the 'Strictly Irish Dancing'. On the 18th April, eight novice Irish Dancers will be paired off with eight professionals with the winning couple being crowned 2009 Strictly Irish Dancing Champions. The pairings for this year are Aileen Convery & John J McKenna, Marie Harte & Sean Convery, Orlagh Kelly & John McCamley, Orla Millar & Collie O'Hara, Paul Woods & Louise Dougan, Barry Young & Clare Glass, Sean Woods & Aileen McKenna and JD McLaughlin & Aine Bradley.
The Feile na nOg started their defense of their title at Watty Grahams Park on Sunday morning, with Swatragh providing the opposition. Glen started without a host of first team players but this didn't deter the team as they ran out comfortable winners. Glen team was as follows: Kiwi McCloy, Karl Quinn, Conor Glass, John McGilligan, Pearce Flanagan, Paul Gunning (2-00), Cahir McCabe, Michael Bryson, Tom McKenna, Danny Tallon (1-00), Cahir Glass (0-02), Oisin Hegarty, JD Doherty, Stevie O'Hara (3-03) and Tiernan Flanagan (1-00). Subs used Tomas Convery, David Young (1-00), Jack Murray, Declan McCusker, Joe Young, Daniel McMaster and Cathal Gallagher. Next game is away to Faughanvale next Sunday at 11am. All support appreciated.
An under strength and very young U21 team traveled to Magherafelt on Sunday and put in a creditable performance, however they were defeated by a strong Magherafelt outfit. Team and scorers Matts O'Kane, Owen McCusker, Ryan Martin, Nathan Deery, David Glass (1-00), Andrew Warnock (0-02), Conor McWilliams, Seanie McGroogan (0-01), Dan Heaney, Enda Bradley, Conlann Bradley (0-01), Joe Bradley, Jason Downey (1-00), Ronan Moohan and Damian Maguire (0-01).
Anyone who is involved in coaching or administrative of football, camogie and ladies football has to complete an AccessNI application form. These forms can be downloaded from www.wattygrahamsgac.com. Completed forms and three photocopied types of ID should be returned A.S.A.P. This process is aimed at protecting the youth and vulnerable adults within our society and it is extremely important procedure.
Upcoming coaching courses are detailed below. It needs to be stressed that the new courses happening this year will replace all previous qualifications.
The INTRODUCTION COACHING AWARD will replace the old Foundation Level Coaching certificate.
The COACHING AWARD 1 will replace the old Level 1 certificate.
The COACHING AWARD 2 will replace the old Level 2 certificate.
The COACHING AWARD 3 is a new level.
(Coaches must complete the Introduction Award before they can go for Awards 1, 2 or 3).
The delivery & content of each of these different awards has changed.
Watty Grahams are aiming to have ALL our coaches gain these new awards over the foreseeable future, regardless of previous coaching courses attended.
As a minimum, The CHILD PROTECTION COURSE & 'INTRODUCTORY COACHING AWARD' will most likely be made MANDATORY for all Glen Coaches, beginning 2009.
There will be a Child protection course on Friday 27th March and coaching course on Saturday 28th March. Anyone interested should contact Dymptna Dougan at

Country music star Kieran McGilligan will be appearing in Watty Grahams Social Club on Friday 6th March, 9.30pm to late. Admission is £10. Pay at door.
