Open Night
In an effort to encourage greater participation by parents and the wider community, Kilbeggan/St. Joseph's minor club is holding an Open Night in the Kilbeggan Parish Centre next Sunday, February 8 at 8pm. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated.
Lotto
The numbers drawn in last weekend's lotto were 12, 15, 20 and 26. There was one match three winner, Abigail Keenan from Mullingar. Next Saturday's draw will take place in Paddy Ryan's in Horseleap when the jackpot will be €9,450.
Thank you for your continued support.
Deaths
Sympathy is extended to the Dillon family, Main Street on the death of Mick last week. Mick's son Merritt played for the club up until a few years ago. Sympathy is also extended to the family of the late John Flynn, who was another long-time resident of Main Street.
May they rest in peace.
Susan Moran
Congratulations to Kilbeggan native Susan Moran on being chosen as Ireland's number one female basketball player of all-time in the recently published list of the top 25 greatest ever players.
Youngest daughter of former Kilbeggan and Westmeath footballer Martin, Susan made her name on the basketball court with Sacred Heart School, Tullamore in the late 1990s before embarking on a successful career in the US where she continues to be involved in the sport as a coach.
Despite being based in Philadelphia for many years, she returned to represent her country many times before the national team was controversially scrapped for financial reasons in 2010.
