Senior League Div1: Mullingar Shamrocks 3 -11 v Maryland 0-9:
The new management team will have been pleased to have gotten off the mark in this the first outing of the league. The game started at a high pitch with Killian Daly notching up a goal and two points within the opening five minutes. After Simon Quinn had added a further point on six minutes the visitors started to settle and had three points on board on the quarter hour. A minute later Dylan Mc Dermott, our most prominent player throughout the game, finished off a great move with a well taken goal. He added two further points, with one from a free by Simon Quinn, before the half hour. Two frees by the visitors left us 1- 6 to 0-5 to the good at the break. Sean Daly got on the score sheet five minutes into the second half. This was followed by an excellent save from the penalty spot by Philly Shaw who had replaced Darragh Ryan at half time. Paddy Fagan then opened his account with a minor on eleven minutes. This was answered with a point for the visitors. A great run by Dylan McDermott set up Simon Quinn with the easy task of batting the ball to an open net. This ended the game as a contest. Dean Moore entered the fray and popped over two fine points before D Mc finished our scoring for the day. The visitors ended the game with three points of their own, which left the final score 3-11 to 0-9. Our division seven team shared the points away to Multyfarham on Sunday in the first round of the league.
