Athlone GAA Notes

Knockcroghery Fair Tournament:
The U10 season finally came to an end on Saturday last in Knockcroghery as the lads played second fiddle to a very good Clann na nGael side in the final of the Fair Tournament. Great credit must go the lads for putting in such great effort throughout the year, which started way back in early April. In what is a novel tournament held annually by St Dominic's three teams of 7 payers play each round meaning it was a very tired bunch of players that left Knockcroghery on Saturday afternoon.
The semi final saw our lads play local rivals Tubberclair and as always there was little between the teams but the Athlone lads managed to come out the right side of the result on this occasion. This set up a final against Clann who had seen off the hosts St Dominic's in their semi final. Despite some outstanding performances by the lads they came up short to a very well prepared Clann side. Many thanks to our hosts who, as always, put on a great show. For the record the Athlone panel on the day was:
Tommy Dillon, Chulainn Dowd, Rian Dully, Pierse Edmundson, Evan Farrell, Luke Farrell, Eoin Hardiman, Ben Killian, Fergal Lennon, Johnny Martin, Donagh McCormack, Dano McMonagle, Kian Mitchell, Lorcan McCormack, Luke O'Connell, Ryan O'Connor, Oisin O'Sullivan, Alan Sweeney, Adam Temple, Jason Ukatu, Brandon White.
