St Finbarr's GAA Chairman Danny Coleman and Club Officer Martin Coen were on hand to meet former Coventry Defender David Busst and current League One Player of the month Callum Wilson
St Finbarr's GAA club Coventry are proud to announce its new partnership with Coventry City Football Club. Coventry City will be using St Finbarr's state of the art 4G pitch and facilities to host it's school holiday camps and development squads, as well as helping St Finbarr's to develop its Underage Gaelic and soccer teams.
This is the culmination of many years hard work by St Finbarr's Club officials to develop its club grounds of over 50 years, with a state of the art floodlit 4G pitch and Social Club facilities in addition to its long standing grass pitch. "We hope to be able to offer as many young people as possible the opportunity of sport, and to also introduce them to the fantastic sport of Gaelic games", said St Finbarr's GAA chairman Danny Coleman. "The partnership with Coventry City FC and the level of investment we have put into place to develop our facilities will help us to meet these goals. After a lapse of a number of years we already have 3 underage teams up and running and we hope this will now go from strength to strength."
In the past St Finbarr's field has hosted exhibition games between the then 1981 Senior All Ireland Hurling Champions Offaly and Tipperary, it is hoped that the St Finbarr's stars of the future will also grace the turf of the oldest GAA Pitch in Coventry.
Men's training has now commenced for the year, training takes place on Wednesday evenings 8pm-9pm and is held on the clubs 4g Pitch located at St Finbarr's Social Club, Holbrook Lane, Coventry, CV6 4DJ. Old and new players alike are welcome.
The clubs underage teams also continue to train on the clubs 4g pitch on Saturday mornings 12pm-1pm, we are currently catering for 8-12 year olds. Training is open to all children of these age groups and new comers are always welcome to come along and join in.
