St Pats................black sheep of Meath???

(Oldest Posts First)

Well Folks,

what is the story with the way st pats have been treated by county managers in the last few years?

We have been holding our own every year in senior champo and causing alot of upsets with out good football.....................but yet no starting county men

This is crazy i think firsty i think we have better players on the team that our current county player (Niall Mooney) but they do not a sniff of interest from county managers.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue.

I thought it was bias towards east meath clubs not being part of 'real' meath, but the inclusion of Biggy reilly has changed this view.

What is wrong with the men from stamullen???

Simple. What is wrong with them is that they are not good enough. No mystery really.

there are plenty of clubs that are not represented on the meath panel, it's not because the management or county board have anything against the club, it just means that there are no players good enough from the club to be on the panel!

I have to agree that the Pats have been overlooked when it comes to county panels in previous years,

just to name a few i think would have been up to county standard or at least should have been given a chance:

1. Daithi Whyte-Without a doubt deserved a chance at county football, he was called up a few years ago but it was when he was past his best.
2. Ronan Kearns-Likewise with Daithi was given a chance when he was past his best and should have been given the chance years before he was called up.
3. Ray Russell-Brilliant man maker......Never given a chance.
4. Keith Whearty-Has always been a very solid footballer and yet again never given the chance.
5. Cormac Sullivan-(outfield) I still cant believe Cormac never represented Meath in midfield in the championship, has always been more than a match for any midfield in the county.
6. Barry Campbell- Although im not really sure if Barry was ever good enough to make it at county level i do believe he at least deserved to be on the panel. A very accurate kicker once he is given the ball he gets you the scores.

Im not saying all the above players should have played for meath in the championship but they definately deserved their chance, like for example if they were playing with navan do you really think they would'nt of got a chance?

every club has decent players that doesnt get a shot at county level, pats is no exception. there is no conspiracy really, if mcquillen, murphy, and the 2 sullivans got a chance then the above players if good enough would've got a chance.

id agree with ya about daithi but to be honest i think were one of those teams where the collective is better than any one individual.barry campbells an excellent player but hes not an inter county player and ratser and ray would be the same.look to the future though young landy has to be knocking about the meath team in a couple of years i think hes an exceptional talent.
