Terrible draw. What use is it for us to play Waterford in Navan. For sure we won't learn anything new. I was hoping that we could get Armagh in Navan as we would have to step up to the plate or forget about it for this year. I know that there is the opinion that we will get the team back winning with easy games but personally I disagree. If the lads had to play a quality team they might be more inclined to focus properly something that has been sadly lacking in this team for some time now. Agreed. I was hoping for Monaghan myself as we left the league game earlier in the year behind us. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1466 - 21/06/2009 22:59:11 318814 Link 0 |

in fairness i know waterford are nt strong but this could be a good thing as it could lift confidence as stephan bray scoring like he used to but remember dont take them as a joke remember what happened when we did that to limerick!! I stand to be corrected bur I believe that Waterford have the best defence in the country this year(least scores conceded). Now i am not saying Meath will lose but lets hope they are not thinking about the next alreay round or we could have some sort of a game in Navan John_3__7 (Meath) - Posts: 546 - 21/06/2009 23:47:48 318873 Link 0 |

The only good thing bout it is that it lets us have another week for brays injury to clear & more time for brian farrell to get even fitter. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6348 - 22/06/2009 00:21:47 318907 Link 0 |

in fairness just because they conceded the least doesnt make them the best defence!! look at the teams they're playing. the draw is terrible for us, i felt we needed to get armagh or monaghan, but hopefully when we look at the team on july 4th we will see king named in the backs, i think the main thing is to get ourselves right we wont learn to much from this match but with lads like bray injured and farrell not long back and even shane o'rourke playing a bit now, it could be good for us to get lads fully fit. an_mhi (Meath) - Posts: 154 - 22/06/2009 00:29:38 318915 Link 0 |

what good can come of this game?, seriously! I think somebody asked the question about the prices that will be charged...they should be paying us if we decide to come out and watch that...this is CHAMPIONSHIP, and yet i dont feel excited this is the first time in my life i've actually said to myself "i'm really not bothered". Lets look at the possible outcomes of this game....number 1. we hammer them- no good because we learn nothing...number 2. we get run close- absolute disaster the lads and the manager will be slated for weeks. number 3. we lose- most definitely will be the worst day of a lots of meath supporters' lives. Goodluck to the lads all the same but the pressure is well and truely on them to perform meathfan1 (Meath) - Posts: 231 - 22/06/2009 02:22:59 318950 Link 0 |

Yea I agree Royal son. Let's get the confidence back in the side and try sorting out CHB and Full Forward positions. I would rather have a banker win to instill confidence for a harder day next time, than a harder test and possible early exit from the Championship, which would make the rest of this year very long indeed. I predict he'll leave King FF for this game. Coylers Elbow (Meath) - Posts: 1075 - 22/06/2009 11:48:32 319172 Link 0 |

Agree completely. We're not going to learn anything whatsoever by playing a poor division four team in Navan. It would be far more beneficial to come up against a tougher team and then we would know where we stand. men_of_49 (Meath) - Posts: 2024 - 22/06/2009 13:09:42 319304 Link 0 |

Meath can only beat what is put in front of them. If we are good enough, there will be lots of opportunities in the next four weeks to get an accurate measurement of where we are at. Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 22/06/2009 14:09:51 319429 Link 0 |

i fear that coylers elbow could be right about king staying full forward, we should get away with it for waterford but we wont against any of the better teams. but we should be using this game to get the forwards scoring and get the confidence up. an_mhi (Meath) - Posts: 154 - 22/06/2009 20:23:06 319873 Link 0 |

Yeah agree with that on king. Hope he doesnt but it would be a handy on for him to try & justify playing him their. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6348 - 22/06/2009 22:54:39 320080 Link 0 |

Can see the points of both sides of the argument, a win to raise confidence but will it just paper over the cracks? In my opinion, EOB should put out hi best possible team, (hopefully) have the game wrapped up with 15, 20 minutes to go and then he can start experimenting, but we cannot take Waterford for granted, emember Limerick?! updaroyal (Meath) - Posts: 1132 - 23/06/2009 13:14:09 320541 Link 0 |

The only thing with doing that with 10-15 mins to go IF we are coasting, is that it wouldnt really be experimenting because we would be finding out nothing new. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6348 - 23/06/2009 22:24:00 321236 Link 0 |

well hopefully we'll have four weeks of matches ahead so playing some of the developing players such as queeney and david bray mightn't be a bad idea either, at least decisions like that can be justified. i certainly think that playing queeney in full forward would be better than playin king up there anyway, hard to know whats going on in eobs head tho. an_mhi (Meath) - Posts: 154 - 23/06/2009 23:32:52 321343 Link 0 |
