clonduff obviously must have been missing a few players for such a result, but fair play to carryduff. Need more teams like them progressing

surprised kilclief are in div4 and bredagh in div2, who they beat last year in down league. but suppose they lost everything last year in div 3, so must be relegated. they would be my favourites for div4. good luck to all down teams in ulster league...

Yea Bredagh in div 2 is a shock alright. What i think has happened is the last time that the Bredagh 1sts played in the ulster league they won the division 3 as there were only 3 divisions. The ulster league was then used for there 2nds to get them games. Now tho the 1st team plan to play in the ulster league and i think because of winning division 3 a few years back they put Bredagh in Division 2.

I shall be interested in seeing how carryduff will get on in their group. After hearing about their result and performance against Clonduff the other week, I think they have a good chance against all the teams they have been drawn against. I like seeing new teams establish themselves and I admire Carryduff for the hard work they are doing in order to make hurling popular in a mainly Gaelic Football playing region. I wish them all the best in their development and hope to see them and other teams like Bredagh and Warrenpoint challenging the Ards teams at Senior level in the next 10 or so years.

how'd all the down teams do today in ulster league? Carryduff 3-6 Davitts 2-7 is all i heard. low scoring game but a good win nevertheless for them.

Why did Newry not play their match? With South Down playing on Saturday some of the Down teams would have been missing their best players.

I was talkin to a boy involved with Carryduff. He says they trained all winter and are flyin in Ulster & friendlies. The league starts next month and he reckons Carryduff will make a real impact in Div 2. Might even win it.

Just reporting what was said. It could be a tight Div 2 with Castlewellan, Ballycran & Portaferry all fighting it out with Carryduff.

excellent news that carryduff contenders fo div 2, the more teams that improve the better the league will get, as for clonduff they still building a panel with the young squad that they have still a year or two away from being the complete package, Mid table in div 2 a realistic position for this year.

It all depends on having a big squad. You know yourselves, one week you have ten subs at a game the next you may barely field a team. I'll settle for getting a few wins this year and narrowing the margins of defeat from the first season.

Don't think we can be judged as title contenders yet. A good win over clonduff (although I'd say carryduff were closer to having a full team out than clonduff were.) and a win in the ulster league with 8 minors playing against a team who stuffed us last year has brought a bit of confidence into to the squad. Good competition for places this year, some exicting young talent, boys one year older and have a bit of experience of senior hurling now. We can talk ourselves up all we want, but I agreed with Suas Sios, I'd be happy with a few more wins than last year and then we'll see what happens from there.

"A few more wins than last year"

How many wins did Carryduff get last year exactly?
