Goals did the trick for Scoil Mhuire secondary school in Friday's Tesco Post-Primary Schools All-Ireland Ladies junior A football final.
The Longford outfit ran out 4-8 to 1-10 winners against Glenamaddy in Galway to claim a very first All-Ireland crown.
Elaine Murphy scored two first half goals and Aisling Reynolds added another as Scoil Mhuire, boosted by two early strikes, led by 3-3 to 0-6 at half-time.
With the wind advantage in the second half, Scoil Mhuire added three points to move into a comfortable 3-6 to 0-6 advantage while goalkeeper Shannon Woods kept Glenamaddy at bay with some brilliant saves.
Scoil Mhuire lost captain and full-back Leanne Keegan to a sin-binning midway through the second half but Glenamaddy midfielder Louise Ward, their best player on the day, struck the resultant penalty over the bar.
Despite losing the services of Keegan, Scoil Mhuire were in total control and added a fourth goal in the 60th minute when the outstanding Aoife Darcy crashed a penalty to the roof of the net.
Glenamaddy scored a consolation goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time when Caoimhe Boyle's effort eluded the superb Woods, who earned the player of the match award.
Meanwhile, Tipperary side Coláiste Dun Iascaigh won the Tesco Post Primary Schools junior B All-Ireland ladies football championship on Saturday afternoon in Banagher.
The Cahir-based outfit ran out 5-4 to 2-5 winners against Scoil Mhuire SS, Trim, who were runners-up in last year's C decider.
Roisin Howard scored 3-2 for Coláiste Dun Iascaigh, with the other goals coming from Siobhan Heffernan and Kirsty Downey.
First half goals from Downey, Heffernan and Howard opened up a 3-2 to 0-2 lead against Trim, who had two points from their leading scorer Laura Dempsey.
An early second half goal from Emma Troy gave Trim some hope but Howard stamped her authority on the game with two goals to ensure victory for Coláiste Dun Iascaigh.
Despite Howard's scoring heroics, wing forward Aisling Moloney received the player of the match award while Cahir's full-back line of Claire Walsh, Emma Corcoran and Maureen Murphy emerged with huge credit.
And in Saturday's Tesco Post Primary Junior C All-Ireland ladies football schools final, St Josephs of Navan defeated Presentation College Athenry by 4-7 to 2-10.
Navan goalkeeper Sarah Powderly was the difference between the two sides as the player of the match, who received the nod from each of five independent judges, pulled off a string of stunning saves.
Top scorer Leslie Buchanon, Shona White, Megan Collins and Niamh Lyster scored the goals for St Josephs, who led by 1-5 to 0-5 at half-time.
Presentation captain and full-forward Michelle Dunleavy tried hard for the runners-up and scored 1-5 on a day when centre forward Louise Brennan added 1-2.
