FBD League: Mayo maul lacklustre Leitrim

January 30, 2011

Mayo 1-11
Leitrim 0-2

James Horan's Mayo enjoyed a supremely easy victory over Leitrim in the FBD Connacht League at Ballinamore on Sunday afternoon.

Leitrim went into the game in good spirits following a wide margin win over GMIT in midweek but they were a shadow of that side against the Mayo men.

Mickey Moran's side could muster just two scores in the 70 minutes, points from Brian McDonald and Colm Maguire which were separate by almost an hour.

At the other end Mayo found scores at will, with Mark Ronaldson hitting six points in the first 35 minutes to leave the victors 0-8 to 0-1 in front at the change of ends.

The result was beyond any doubt long before Aidan Kilcoyne's goal in the 64th minute, and Mayo can now look forward to an FBD League "home" final against NUIG.
