Division 1 Final: St. Patricks 0-18, O'Connell's 0-8. Well, after a long hard season we were on the wrong end of a ten point drubbing from the county champions St. Patricks in the Cardinal O'Donnell Cup final on Sunday last. After a well contested first half that saw us just one point down 0-5 to 0-6 the men from Lordship turned on the style and none more so than their county all-star Paddy Keenan who bagged himself half their tally 0-9 with seven of those from play. There is defiantly no shame in losing to these men as they have proved they are the best in the county and when on form they can be a match for anyone in Leinster. It's been a tremendous year, five finals, won two and lost three but won the one we all wanted the intermediate championship and everything after that is in my opinion a bonus. Our first team or senior team, which ever you like to call them, played 29 games this season, losing only 6 and drawing 2, and four of those losses were by one point only, and the county champions St. Patricks are the only team to beat us by more than one score, and I believe that to be some achievement by a club as small as ours. So that's it for 2012 on the adult football scene, we have the minor league final next Sunday.
Team: Sean Connolly; Andrew Shields, Conor Byrne, Jason Carroll; Salem Rifaie, Jackie Agnew 0-1, David Doyle; Sean Cairns, Stuart Reynolds 0-1(f); Andrew Sharkey, Paul McKeever 0-4(4f), John Flanagan 0-1; Robert Quigley 0-1, PJ Tuite, Cian Doyle. Subs Killian Shields for Tuite, Stephen Hoey for Rifaie, Keith Woods for Cairns, Conor McGill for Carroll, Brian Hanratty for D.Doyle.
AGM: Another low turnout, with the year we just had I thought there would have been a bigger attendance, wishful thinking.
