Mountmellick were denied Leinster junior honours at the weekend when Dublin side Castleknock triumphed in the Special hurling championship final.

The Laois side went into the match full of confidence, but they came up against a well drilled Castleknock side that ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-07.

There was only two points separating the sides at half time, but Castleknock pulled away in the second half to record a merited win.
