Danesfort into intermediate final
October 10, 2008
2007 All-Ireland junior club hurling champions Danesfort are just 60 minutes away from securing a place in the senior ranks after they edged out Emeralds 0-12 to 0-11 in the last Sunday's intermediate hurling semi-final.
Urlingford outfit Emeralds looked the most likely winners when they led by 0-9 to 0-7 at the end of the third quarter. But a late run of points from the Hogan brothers, Paddy and Richie, and Alan Guilfoyle saw Danesfort into the final.
Danesfort's final opponents will be either Mooncoin or Erin's Own, who meet in the second semi-final at Nowlan Park on Saturday. Castlecomer club Erin's Own secured their last-four place last Sunday when a strong finish saw them defeat St. Lachtain's 0-11 to 0-10 in their replayed quarter-final.
