A special function is to be held this weekend to honour the 13 men that have won All-Stars in Kildare jerseys.

The function will benefit the St Brigid's Hospice and Home Care Service and will be held in the Keaden Hotel this Saturday evening, November 2nd.

All of Kildare's All-Stars from Ollie Crinnigan being the first in 1978 up to Mick Foley's accolade in 2011 will be honoured on the night.

Crinnigan admitted to the Kildare Nationalist that he will never forget when he was honoured as being the first man from the county to receive the award.

"It was a big deal for me at the time because we had never got one and never looked like getting one because that time it was normally All-Ireland finalists and semi finalists who got them," said Crinnigan.

"Nowadays you have quarterfinals and back doors and things like that which weren't there back then. The competition for goalkeepers at that time was fierce. You had Charlie Nelligan, Paddy Cullen, Billy Morgan, Martin Furlong so I was pleasantly surprised when I got it."

For the record Kildare's 13 All-Star recipients are as follows: Ollie Crinnigan (1978), Martin Lynch (1991), Davy Dalton (1997), Glenn Ryan (1997 & '98), Niall Buckley (1997), Brian Lacey (1998), John Finn (1998), Dermot Earley (1998 & 2009), Karl O'Dwyer (1998), Anthony Rainbow (2000), Peter Kelly (2010), Johnny Doyle (2010) and Mick Foley (2011).
