Gallagher, Raymond

June 30, 2007
The Late Raymond Gallagher The sudden death of Raymond Gallagher of Belleek was received with shock and sadness. A father figure of the GAA in the village, he was held in very high esteem. Apart from the involvement with the Erne Gaels as a club officer, Raymond also managed club teams and was also a very good hurler in his younger days. He played full-back for the club side that won three consecutive hurling championships and he also played for the county hurlers. Raymond was father of Raymond jnr., who was one of the best known Fermanagh footballers throughout the nineties. The huge crowds which attended at the house throughout the weekend and at the house throughout the weekend and at the funeral in the Beleek on Monday was testament to the esteem in which he was held. The late Mr.Gallagher (60) is survived by his wife, Mary; son Raymond; daughters, Ciara, Niamh and Maeve; brothers, Tommy (SDLP MLA), Gerry; sisters Mary and Vera, and a host of friends.
