Lory Meagher Cup-2011

Quarter Final

Saturday 7 May 2011

Fermanagh, 1 gl. 10 pts; Warwickshire, 4 gls. 8 pts.

Brewster Park, Enniskillen

Despite getting off to quick scoring start, with a point from play by Fermanagh's centre half forward Karl Kehoe, and the red carding of Warwickshire's left full forward Michael O'Hora, this Lory Meagher quarter final quickly turned out be match completely dominated by a more skilful and determined exile team. Within moments of the Ernesiders opening point, their opponents retaliated the first of many unanered points and goals. They Warwickshire had volley of scores firstly from Seamus Carey and then from his team mate Michael O'Hora. Despite the latter being red carded they exiles carried on scoring seamlessly with a third point from Redmond McEntee. Then as the game's opening quarter was fast ebbing out Warwickshire's late pre-match replacement Desmond Kelly banged home the first of many goals, to leave this matches' late first score as 1 point for the Fermanagh hosts' to 1 goal 3 points for the visiting exiles. Whetted by that first major, they latter aimed higher with his stick and slithor and registered his second and his sides fourth point. Though they now embattled Erneside defence or every ball, it was at the other end of the pitch that the Fermanagh side started to gain in confidence and in early the second quarter they popped and pucked over for their second, third and fourth points from firstly their mid-fielder Ryan Bogue and then his team mate and right full forward Sean Corrigan.

Warwickshire Back In Control

Quickly they exiles re-established scoring supremacy, when they firstly pucked two well taken points from play by Remond McEntee and Seamus Carey. Then with less than five minutes to half time Warwickshire coppperfastened their scoring grip on this game, when Seamus Carey fired home his sides second goal.

Half time scores

Fermanagh, 0 gl. 4 pts; Warwickshire, 2 gls. 5 pts.

Second Half

Fermanagh Step Up Their Scoring Tally

Within minutes of this game's resumption the Fermanagh attack mounted sustained and successful attacks. The first of them gained they Ernesiders fifth point from play by their full forward Declan McGarry. Then with further pressure it forced they exiles into conceding penalty. In a clinical execution they Ernesiders Ryan Bogue smashed home a great morale boosting goal. However they Warwickshire quickly retaliated with a point from a free by Shane O'Hanlon. And then stepped up their scoring abilities, with a third goal by Remond McEntee. With the games late third quarter's scores been 1 goal 5 points for they Fermanagh host's to 3 goals 6 points, it obvious to they sophisticated hurling spectators present, that outcome of this match was pre-determined. That unless Erneside miracle was to occur. But they Fermanagh side had more pointed scores from substitute J.P. McGarry ( 1 point), Ryan Bogue ( 3 points), With over three quarters' of this game gone. They visiting side remorselessly stepped up their ruthless scoring abilities, and when they game entered it s fourth and final quarter, they Warwickshire registered their fourth goal, courtesy of Desmond Kelly. The dying moments of this game didn't so much ebb away, but die on it feet for lack of competition. Fermanagh senior hurlers have now less than a week to dust themselves down and prepare they first round of they Ulster Senior Hurling Championship, when they Erneside play host to Armagh, next Saturday 14th May, 2011.
