* KYC volunteers Christopher, Edmond and Nuala attended the Autism Spectrum Disorder / Aspergers Syndrome awareness training course held by the SELB in Portadown. Autism is a disability which disrupts the development of social and communication skills.
* A group from KYC enjoyed a visit to the Arts Extra festival of colours at St Georges Market celebrating the coming of spring taking in the Bollywood and Bhangra DJs, cultural workshops, food market and crafts. (photo attached)
* Anyone with unwanted exterior paint should contact KYC (028 4176 3681) where it will help with a new mural being painted at the club.
* Following on from training completed recently, KYC is facilitating an 'UP' programme on Saturdays as part of its weekend activities. More information and consent forms can be had from the club.
* Hill, Beach & Forest Night Trekking in February and March leaving KYC 630pm, returning for 930pm, includes visit to the Climbing Wall. If interested collect Consent Form from KYC as soon as possible.
* A 'Social Justice' awareness project begins at JIMS on Wednesday 3rd March and continues on Wednesdays throughout March culminating in a sleep out in cardboard boxes on Saturday 27th March. There are still a couple of places remaining.
* Arryol attended the SELB youth conference at the Armagh City Hotel as part of the Newry and Mourne steering group which organized the event. Well done.
* In the NI Basketball League Kilkeel LT played Ards Wolves on Saturday at KYC, coming from behind to win 74 points to 66 points. In the Senior Cup Kilkeel have reached the semi final where they face Fermanagh Lakers. (photo attached)
* Michael and Anne attended the Club treasurers meeting in the Donard Hotel.
* The local heat of the Down Primary Schools Indoor Camogie tournament took place on Thursday past, the county finals are this Friday.
* The club is looking to buy back any camogie or hurling helmets no longer used by former players. There are a lot of young players for whom the cost of a new helmet is prohibitive. When you began playing the club most likely subsidized your helmet, so return it, get a bit of cash back and enable a new generation of girls to take up the sport.
* Camogie management teams ratified at a special meeting were Senior Sean Caughey, Veronica McGreevy; U16 Michelle Fitzpatrick, Paul Fearon, Fiona Farrell, Helena Rooney; U14 Veronica Baldwin, Jodie Higgins; U12 Michelle Hughes, Sheila McAlinden; U10 Patricia Byrne, Anne McGivern. Anyone else who wants to get involved should complete and return an application form before the next meeting on 25th March.
* There was an encouraging attendance at the first U10 & U12 camogie practices in the hall last Wednesday. Any girls attendance four of the five pre-Easter practices will receive a certificate and a prize at the fifth session on 31st March.
* Hard luck to St Louis camogs especially Sophie, Colleen, Carrie, Noelle, Christina, Emily, Ella and Eimear who lost out by a goal in their All Ireland semi final in Banagher, County Offaly.
* Commiserations to Christopher and Conor who lost heavily in the Shamrock Cup final with Down U21 v Monaghan.
* Good luck to Brendan, James, John and Martin on Saturday with Down in the NFL. We'll be there, travel details from the club.
* The Senior Reserve football league starts on Sunday with a visit to newly promoted Saval. It is important to win the early games and get off to a good start. The Senior footballers also play Saval in a challenge match.
* Can you spare your old, unwanted all types of clothing, paired shoes, all household textiles, bed linens, curtains, towels, etc. Every bag collected results in a donation to the Clubs Youth section. Please help raise funds for your local club & help developing communities abroad. Please leave bags at the Kingdom Club, 10 Dunavil Road. Thanks to all who have supported us in this way and please continue to do so, it has been a tremendous help.
