Buncrana The club's underage presentations where held in the Lake of Shadows last Sunday and Inishowen Community Radio's PJ McLaughlin was in attendance. The presentation along with interviews with guest speakers Sean Noonan (schools completion programme), Sean Clerkin (club and Donegal under-21 coach), Bord na nÓg chairman Chris Walsh and others will be aired on ICR Sports Programme next week. Medals were awarded to teams for Football and Hurling from all age groups U6 to U16s. Congratulations to all those who received Medals and hopefully there will be many more next year. Individual Awards where received by the following: U12 Football of the Year Caolan McGonagle, U12 Hurler of the Year Jack O'Loughlin, U13 Footballer of the Year Mathew Barber, U14 Footballer of the Year Denver Coyle, U14 Hurler of the Year Dermot Doherty, U16 Footballer of the Year Patrick McMyler and U16 Hurler of the Year Aiden Duffy. Under Age Club Activity Award went to Lauren Hegarty. Club Members who where part of the U14 Hurling County squad who won the All-Ireland C Blitz Donaill McLaughlin, Martin Óg Shiels, Daniel Wilson, Michael Farrell and Conor Grant. Mairead Walsh also received an award as she continues to play Camogie in Derry and is part of the Derry squad that won U16 All Ireland Final. The Bord na nÓg Committee would like to thank the Lake of Shadows staff, ICR, all the parents and those who helped make the underage presentations a great event for all. The winning ?10,000 Lotto Jackpot numbers, drawn on Tuesday 9 December were: 9, 22, 25, 28. On the same night the winning ?5,610 Lotto Plus numbers were drawn as follows: 2, 21, 28, 31. As there were no winners in any of the draws the following five names were drawn out for the ?20 consolation prizes: Fiachra O'Flaherty, C/o Bar, Main Street, Buncrana; Catriona Porter, Umricam, Buncrana; Oliver Doherty, 19, Lower Main Street, Buncrana; Brigid Trodden, 27, Castle Park, Buncrana and Michael Killoran, 46, Allendale, Buncrana. A limited number of tickets are still available for what is now becoming the club's annual New Year's Eve fundraising draw and can be purchased by contacting David McConnell, on 087 939 2767 or by getting in touch with any board member. This year's prize fund is ?10,000 which includes a first prize of ?4,000, a second prize of ?2,000, and a third prize of ?1,000. There are 20 cash prizes in total. Tickets are priced at ?50 each. All funds raised go towards the upkeep of the club. The main purpose of this year's fundraising is to purchase a new lawnmower for use on The Scarvey pitches. The club would like to encourage all Buncrana GAA members to actively participate in ticket sales in any small way possible as every ticket sale counts and is greatly appreciated by the club. Burt Congratulations to Mickey McCann on making the Nicky Rackard All-Star team this year. He will travel to Croke Park this Friday night to collect his award. This is a high point for the Donegal captain following what was a disappointing campaign this year for the county hurling team. Congratulations to Ciaran Dowds on reaching the Inter-Firms junior All-Ireland football final with the Donegal County Council team. They beat Connacht champions, Galway Garda, last week in the All-Ireland semi-final held in Ballinrobe. They will now face Limerick Garda in the final. That game is yet to be scheduled. The club extends its condolences to the family and friends of Angela McBride (née Downey), formerly of the Pound Cottages, Burt, who died at her home in Buncrana last Monday week. The Donegal GAA yearbooks are now on sale and can be got from Danny Dowds, in the local shops, or by asking any executive member. The full colour yearbook, on which club members Dónal Campbell and Damian Dowds worked closely with editor and county PRO Seamus O'Donnell, has 256 pages and costs just ?15. With lots of photos of successful club teams and players, it will make an ideal stocking filler for Christmas. An Inishowen underage football forum will be held on 12 January in Buncrana. All underage managers and coaches from the club are invited to attend. There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week. Benny Harrigan won ?40. Next week's jackpot is ?550. Anyone with lotto's should have them in the clubhouse by Thursday night or hand it to any club member. The club's underage presentation is on Tuesday, 30 December at 6.30pm in the Fowler Hall, Tooban. It has been a good year for the underage teams and we're looking forward to a great night at the prize giving. Any Night at the Races winners who haven't yet claimed their winnings should come to the clubhouse on Thursday night (18 December) at 8pm and collect them from club treasurer Liam McKinney. Club membership for the year is now due. It is ?50 for players, ?20 for non-players and ?10 for underage players. Indoor hurling is now taking place in the Aileach Youth Club every Saturday for the winter, coached by Colm Davis. Primary school children are from 10-11.30am and secondary school children are from 11.30am-12.30pm. Carn The annual presentation of awards to our underage players was held in Carndonagh Community School last Sunday. A large turnout of young players with their family and friends ensured that the afternoon was a joyful celebration of all that had been achieved throughout the year. The sense of occasion was further added to by the presence of the new Donegal county senior football team manager John Joe Doherty, who presented the medals and trophies, and by members of the successful Carndonagh senior team. Congratulation to all our young football, hurling and camogie players who got awards. The club wishes to thank all who contributed in any way to the success of the presentation. Malin Traditional Music Sessions continue on the first Friday of every month in the GAA Centre and all musicians are welcome. The next session takes place on Friday, 9 January at 7.30pm (December's session is cancelled, unfortunately) in the upstairs room in the centre, again, everyone welcome. Watch your Weight continues every Wednesday and Friday at 7pm for men and at 9pm for ladies (Wednesdays only for now) all ages welcome. Replica senior shirts are currently available in all sizes but there is only a limited number at present so booking is advisable. Training for girls interested in playing Gaelic football continues every Wednesday from 5/6 pm in the GAA centre. Girls have to be between 6th class in primary school to 3rd year in secondary school, all girls asked to bring boots and runners. There was no winner of this week's lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 6, 7, 2, 5, 4, 1, 3 with the ?50 prize going to Christina Hamish, Malin Glen. This weekend's jackpot is ?1,150 and as always we thank the local community for its continued support. Moville A Night at the Races will take place on Saturday 3 January, so why not purchase a horse to be in with a chance of a top prize. The club's AGM has been set for 18 January. Urris CLG Iorras would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the family of Laurence Farren, our dear friend and neighbour in Straid. The Club deeply appreciates all that he and his family have done for us over the years and his loss will be keenly felt by all involved CLG Iorras. Tickets are on sale for the Club's Christmas Draw from all Club members, there is a Monster Hamper on offer for the first prize with a meal for two in the Ballyliffin Hotel as second prize, lastly a selection of biscuits, sweets and wine as the third prize. Tickets are ?2 each or ?10 for a book of six. The draw will be made at the Bingo before Christmas. All proceeds raised will go towards the Underage teams. This year's Donegal GAA yearbook is now available from David Hession or any other committee member. Priced at ?15, this year's book is the best ever produced by the County, crammed full photographs and great articles about football and hurling in the County, this would be the ideal present for the GAA fan in your house. Coaching positions for the next year have yet to be decided but there will be a meeting to sort these out in the very near future. As always the Club is interested in having new faces helping out with our underage players and so if you are interested in giving a hand with a team just let someone on the Committee know. Training is given to all new coaches both from within the Club and the wider GAA community in Donegal. Club membership fees for 2009 will remain the same as the year gone by, so adult members will be ?20 and juvenile members will be ?3. Membership can be paid to Edward McLaughlin. Remember everyone wishing to play for the Club, coach for the Club or anyone interested in getting hold of All Ireland tickets etc must be a paid up member of the Club for 2009. There was no winner of the Match and Win jackpot last week, next week's jackpot will now be ?780, the years drawn were: 1964, 1965, 1974 and 1979.
