Rossa take Ulster camogie crown

September 04, 2006
Rossa (Antrim) 5-13 Castledawson (Derry) 2-5 Jane Adams lit up the Ulster Senior club final in Keady on Saturday 2nd September with a magnificent 4 goals and 5 points against a battling performance from first-time Derry title-holders Castledawson. Her opening two goals in the fifth and seventeenth minutes opened up a 2-6 to 0-3 interval lead and already Rossa looked on their way to a third successive title. That was confirmed within eight minutes of the re-start when last season's Ulster Writers' Player of the Year had added two goals and a point. Her teenage side-kick Mairiosa McGourty had sparkled in the Antrim decider with two goals and she added Rossa's fifth in direct response to the first of two late goals from Shauna Mulholland. The game became scrappy near the end and Rossa will be worried about the implications of a straight red card for corner-back Teresa Adams - but they are safely through for an another assault on the All-Ireland.
