Dermot Heaney to the fore for Castledawson

It took a second-half goal from former 1993 All-Ireland medalist Dermot Heaney for Castledawson to send them on their way to a 2-10 to 1-6 win over Kilrea on Thursday, July 20th in the Derry SFC.
The Kilrea side started the game in impressive fashion and were ahead after 12 minutes play 1-1 to 0-2. However, as the half wore on it was Castledawson who came more into the game, and at the break they led by 0-6 to 1-2.
Kilrea forced the pace in the third quarter and they led by 1-7 to 0-7 with the game entering the final quarter. Then Heaney turned the game in his sides favour with a tremendous goal, and in the closing minutes the winners got their second goal from Seamus Shivers to give his side a deserved win in the end.
Castledawson scorers were - Dermot Heaney and S. Shivers 1-0 each; C. Scullion 0-4, 2 frees; N. McNicholl 0-2, S. Doyle, C. Heaney, S. McNicholl 0-1 each and M. Heaney 0-1 from a '45'.
Kilrea scorers were - J. Kielt 1-1, 0-1 from a free; K. O'Kane 0-2 from frees, J. Burke, J. Nelson and P. Deighan 0-1 apiece,
