Doneraile denied in All-Ireland final

March 25, 2011
There was heartbreak for Doneraile last Sunday when they lost the All-Ireland club JHC 'B' final to Ballindereen of Galway on a 2-6 to 0-5 scoreline at Raheenagh, Co. Limerick.

While Ballindereen were deserving winners, Doneraile will rue a tally of 14 wides, eight of which came in the first half. The Cork side were only a point in arrears, 0-3 to 0-4, at half-time, but lost their way in the third quarter as Ballindereen opened up a 2-6 to 0-3 lead thanks to goals from Shane Coen and Finbarr Meehan.

Ronan Good and Garry Sweeney pulled back points for Doneraile in the last 10 minutes, but despite having a player sent off, the Galway champions held on for a comfortable victory.
