Well reported on kfm (local radio station) today. He is possibly in contention for the clash. I suppose we will have to wait and see on sunday.

Big players can handle pressure and I feel Seanie Johnson will be a big asset to Kildare in the following few weeks. Best of luck to him and finally all the bullshit that has been written will finally end. point of info. there were six players playing for their non birth counties yesterday in all the different GAA fixtures but no one was publishing any reference to these lads except for Johnson.

Sick and tired of the whole affair. Lets move on and forget about him, he has moved on. I was shocked at my own reaction when I actually saw him in the Kildare jersey.......I come from the parish and team where roots and loyalty are everything, where you'd bust yourself for your club and county, so I will never understand. I don;t think it'll be long before Mc Geeney moves on too...loyalty comes in notes there!!

I hoped that Cavan would create an upset similar to the Fermanagh result, the truth is that in Championship football anything can happen !!

Seanie is a great player but seeing Seanie playing in white and listening to McGeeney at post match interview - it did all sound abit mercenary. I think Limerick will give them a run out.

anyone would think hes a top player with all the carry on. mind you he probably got a heroes reception in terry coyle after the match. This transfer at least has given Cavan Gaels some limelight. They certainly never get it on their displays in the all ireland club championship.

its Gaels first and Cavan a distant second at that club.

it would be no loss if they all transferred to kildare.

Sunday was a sad day in the annals of Cavan football. The Seanie Johnston saga had ran for over six months and while I thought it was of little importance in its long term consequences for Cavan football, when Johnston entered the fray late in Sundays game to loud cheers from the large Kildare following, for us Cavan supporters who have followed the Royal Blue through thick and thin the emotion we felt was indescribable. Cavan are a proud footballing county and while we have seen more disappointment than glory in recent decades there was always a pride in seeing the Blues take the field and doning the Royal Blue jersey. It was unprecedented to see a player born and reared in the county town and who learned his skills in the county and who still lived and worked there coming on in Breffni Park the hallowed turf of Cavan football and scoring against his native county. Johnston was not dropped from the Cavan panel without good reason and he immediately took flight to Kildare. As a gentleman fro the west of Ireland stated to me recently its says a lot about the character of the individual involved. Great Cavan players of the past like Charlie Gallagher and Ollie Brady never won much silverware with Cavan but always stayed loyal to the county. Now to Mr. McGeeney. When Seanie Johnston was introduced in the last ten minutes or so Kildare had the game won long before. McGeeney knew the sensitivities of the situation yet he decided to rub our noses in it and drive a nail through the hearts of the Cavan faithful. There was no need to introduce Johnston, he could have left that to the next game had he wished but no this was pay back time for Cavan and McGeeney could not resist the opportunity. This tells us a lot about that mans character too. Kildare forwards looked for Johnston every time they got in site of goal determined to get him on the score sheet. The regard we had for the Kildare team and management in Cavan will have taken a nosedive after the theatrics we witnessed in Breffni Park on Sunday afternoon. Was it true Johnston was spotted practising free taking in Terry Coyle Park last week? Whatever else this guy has some nerve.

Not only did he practice up in Terry Coyle he played and won a golf competition for them as well last week.
So much for his shoulder injury.

Sean O Rinn I've always respected your opinion on players. You were always a supporter of Declan McKiernan and also mc clarey and I'm hindsight you probably wernt too far wrong. BUT your adoration for Val went way over the top. As I said in previous post I don't rate him nor did I rate TC and sadly neither will ever get a senior inter county job BUT both are capable of making their presence felt through our national broadcasting station. I respect your opinion if you keep it to football. We all have our seniors interests at heart. Lots of supporters year ended last Sunday. I'm lucky enough to support a club who will be at the business end of the championship come September , there was many a year in the 80s and 90s when they wernt there. We all want the best for our county.
richiej , 17/07/2012 at 16:17

Thank you for at least acknowledging the players I mentioned but please read back your posts on other topics about the county and you were glad your club men would not play and ridiculed those that did in one way or another.
I will once again do my usual taking notes of players for myself to see if they will be brought into the panel come October for at the end of the day my opinion does not matter. 45 players I noted last year 3 only made the county panel sadly one of those has passed on.

Kilnaleck blue, have to say thats a great post and it says exactly what most cavan people taught, i just hope that mr seanie johnston has the good taste to leave cavan and move to kildare for good job and all, to go and score against your native county and them behind by 16 says it all, he could have let someone else take that free.

In fairness to Seanie he had replaced the free taker or the free taker was replaced and he did his job. Forget it people he is now a Kildare footballer for now and that should be it. Those that booed left Cavan down you would have been far better to applaud him coming on as I did for it ended the circus last Sunday.

Look seanie replaced our free taker on that side eoin o flatherty and mikey conway is the only other free taker as johnny doyle doesnt take them anymore for kildare and mikey was already taking off as well.
It brings it all to an end.

It's time to get over the whole Seanie Johnston affair now !!
He was entitled to take the last free as he is now a Kildare player !! He wasn't wanted here so move on lads !!

Sean - bull. He got booed and he got what he deserved. The legends of Cavan football would turn in their graves to see what he did. He's not fit to lace the boots of any Cavan man. I wish him no luck and no success.

It's irrelevant what the legends would do we as Cavan supporters would have been admired for applauding him and we would have sent a very solid message to the counties in Ireland. I applauded so was not part of the boo brigade

Sean, as a supporter for a long time and someone who has traveled to the back of beyond watching Cavan I reserve the right to express my annoyance at the behaviour of Sean Johnston. This is best done through booing him. By clapping him you send a message that you are happy with his actions, if you are happy that a Cavan player would so disgracefully treat his own team then me and you are two totally different fish. BTW - we only booed Johnston, large sections of the Kildare support booed our every free. Again - I hope he, Kildare and McGeeney win nothing!
