Cavan Board plan to leave Ulster

(Oldest Posts First)

The new era in Cavan footbal is now another 3 years away.
A hurried appointment of another Dublin person without any real insight into Ulster football is sad.

Cavan would ideally like to join the Leinster championship or even Connaught.
Cavan Board is unhappy in Ulster.
Politics are important here.
Cavan Board feel any success at County level could stir the greener elements within the county.

The Board is happy for there to be no success and so really all the manager is doing is playing time.
It is all about Politics.
The appointment of a Northern Manager would raise hopes and pull Cavan closer to Ulster.
This would have ramifications in the wider community.
There is also a small but influential minority community in Cavan who might fear the march of a new vibrant Cavan.

The new manager received a call (from on high).

No application required.

Haste was important.

Decision made there and then.

Val Andrews has no insight into Ulster football. Who was the last manager to bring Cavan to the Ulster final?
