Fair play to Kingscourt today, for team that at the beginning of the year was tipped for relagation they did really well to get were they are today. But lets be fair lads, They owe a great deal of gratitude to the referee. I honestly couldnt get over how biased he was. No way in hell was that a penalty. Also there was an incident in the second half were kingscourt took a quick free kick a went for goal and missed and galligan blew up and allowed Kingscourt to retake the free. Also what about awarding a free out to the gaels and then the Kingscourt player picks up the ball and kicks it over the bar and galligan lets the point stand...JOKE! Although fair play to Kingscourt. The celebrations at the end showed just exactly how much it meant to them.

Con Cavan,
Couldn't agree with you more about the commentary. It's high time Northern Sound turned professional and got a commentator who could actually focus on the game, and not on someone from Maghera's upcoming 80th birthday, or some incident totally irrelevant that happened years ago!!
Owen Mc Connon is a professional, perhaps he could take over from the current pair?

1. It was a penalty a Kingscourt player had his jersey pulled to prevent him contesting the ball.
2. Quick frees are not allowed inside the 14 yard line. (so i was told by a referee at the game i wasnt aware of this myself.
3. That was a strange one there was a whistle and the Gaels players stoped but i dont think it was Galligan that blew it, someone in the crowd must have has a whistle because i heard it at least one other time.

What is all this talk about it not being a penalty. I was behind the goals and the gaels defender clearly pulled the kingscourt forwards jersey. He had a handful of it. If you pull someones jersey it's a free out the field. Why do players feel that it is acceptable to do this in the square. A rush of blood to the head for the defender but he definitely committed a foul.

Well done Kingscourt, here's hoping you can go all the way in the Ulster club, and hard luck to the gaels, who I'm sure will be back next year to do your best to win back the county c'ship.

YEs agree it WAs penalty. Don't know why people are disputing it. It wasn't a rash tackle or anything but it was a free and as you say inside the penalty area so good decision.

To be honest it was a penalty. A pull. However any 50/50 call did go to Kingscourt in my opinion. But someone did argue here a couple weeks ago that Gaels players attitude would affect them and I couldn't agree more. Some of the Gaels players attitudes and mouthing was a disgrace. This was during the match even when they were winning. Before the ball was thrown up the abuse Barry Reilly got was not called for from his marker. Even in the minor match the second goal scorer after putting the ball in the net roared in the Joes keepers face. Compare to last week and the behaviour of the Down players at the full time whistle. Gaels equals bad winners and even worse losers. Don't talk about begrudgary, how the Gaels players behave is against the ethos of the GAA and it wasn't just the fans who misbehaved. A sub tryed to kick the referee and another shouted during the speeches, Kingscourt moment.

Well done Kingscourt and all the best in Ulster. Agree with Con and cailin deas. the standard of commentary was poor on the radio - I did not get to attend the match yesterday and had to turn off the radio such was the quality of information being broadcast. Come on Northern Sound - this is not a new problem.

once again a football match has been spoiled by the commentary,no fault to the guy but can northern sound not have a word with him i try to concentrate on the play but its impossible with the absolute drivel that he talks about with time running out yesterday he was talking about the inventor of the stopwatch not the actual game.because of work i cant get to most county matches and I have resorted to following the games on teletext!
Congratulations to Kingscourt its good to see you back

agree with all the posts regarding the northern sound commentator. this is our regional station and we deserve better. Why oh why does this guy not just commentate on the game in front of him. Is he trying to be smart or trying to be a "character" well let me inform him he is neither. there are so many of these local guys who think theyy are Micheal O' muir.. and they lose sight of themselves. All we want is no-nonsense commentary. i.e. who is on the ball . scores as they happen. what is the score. who is playing. who is being substituted. maybe even who is playing well . if certain decesions are dubious etc etc. we don't want any other rubbish. its not funny and its extremely irrating. Remember there are people who are depending on this commentary as they cannot get to the match.

Not surprised at the lower class behaviour of some of the Cavan Gaels players and supporters, they lost fair and square and should b congratulating their opponents on their victory and a good sporting occasion.

Instead they misbehave and abuse ppl which is not nice to see for any sports players and fans.

No wonder we can't have a good county team when we have people like this involved in the GAA in Cavan!!!

The Cavan Gaels club should be ashamed of themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well done to kingscourt.they deserved there win after been relegated to div2 2 years ago they went unbeaten the div 2 league and only lost 1 games in all competitions this year i think.the gaels just proved how bad of losers the were after the match by 1 gaels sub trying to kick the ref but missed and 2 u21 players going after the CB chairman and his officials and another sub went upstairs in breffni park after the to try ad attack the ref.at least jelly was denified in defeat by the way he spoke after the match by saying that kingscorut was the better team.the gaels havent played well all year and didnt deserve to win

I think a special mention must go to the likes of McCormack, Malone, Wakely, Sheanon, Phil Smith, JP etc. I'm not sure where Corcoran went to but he deserves a mention anyway. These guys all had their underage stints with Cavan and St. Pat's, Carrick and have clocked many miles, defeats, injuries along the way. I know these lads, have played with them and against them (couple of slaps given and taken :)) since I was underage, so I know the thankless hours they have put in without the rewards. It's so easy to hang up the boots after you have reached your underage peak. Well done.

Ochlinor im not putting the boot in just stating the behaviour should not be tolerated and the club should deal with these with these guys that were causing trouble yesterday!!

Don't think Cavan Gaels have reached any unknown level LOL, the Gaa scene in Cavan has been in decline since Cavan won Ulster in 97

How come cavan gaels haven't done it in Ulster and if the Gaels r to come back their players and supporters need to learn some manners and how to be sporting and to treat their opponents with respect!!!

Maybe that is too much to ask of some ppl from Cavan town???

Have to agree with u John this type of behaviour needs to be stamped out of the GAA in Cavan!

Its not the 1st time their has been indiscipline from Cavan Gaels Players and their supporters!
