1. clones (Great pitch but only for county, no good for any club game cause its just a dead atmosphere i think)
2. Iniskeen(brilliant, class on a championship day would be great, its a far cry from there last spot anyway)
3. Ballybay (Quality wee spot now that its done up, good atmosphere, nice surface even though its not prunty)
4. Emyvale, top class pitch, parkin is decent enough and stand is handy. good atmosphere on big game day
5. Truagh(terrible pitch but there is work on the way for a 4th tempory pitch ,top class stand, new dressing rooms and handball courts)

Facilities in general ?
Not a club in the county or beyond have a complex like the Sean McDermotts - Pitch is good and I hear they are planning a stand - Deserves a mention.
Clones - Yes - But provided by Ulster Council - Doesn't count
Inniskeen - Yes
Truagh - Maybe (cause of poor pitch)
Emyvale - Good main pitch and Stand - and training pitch
Scotstown - Definitely
Clontibret - Yes
Ballybay - Defo
and lets not forget about Eire Og - Their facilities are second to none for providing a serious challenge to any footballer and a throw back to the old days - Summer or Winter - Have to be one of the most progressive clubs in the county ! !

No way should clones be there its the worst inter county pitch in ulster....
fair enough holds a big crowd. but for one reason i don't rate it. the playing surface absolutly terrible. in winter its soft and cuts up easily, can be a bog prown 2 waterlogging. also in the summer rock hard feet get blistered no matter what boots u wear. also slope on the field from the hill side 2 the stand and very hard to shoot into the town end goals horrible pitch. forget spending money on floodlights and get a prunty pitch... armagh, antrim, derry, tyrone, fermanagh, down, cavan and donegal all prunty pitches.
top five in monaghan
1 Inniskeen hope they get loads of game very easy to get away from. brilliant pitch dressing room etc
2 Clontibret middle of county brilliant pitch, great atmosphere best place for league games
3 Scotstown brilliant pitch can be a good atmosphere crowd close 2 pitch love playing there
4 annaghmullen great place for a county championship game lovely new pitch and good atmosphere and plenty of room for spectators
5 Emyvale great pitch but stand is too small and there is no real space for supporters either side of stand wouldn't really hold a big crowd

worst pitches
1 oram worst pitch ever very backwards
2 magheracloone bog full stop
3 Tyholland too prown to waterlogging
4 aghabog very wet pitch
5 Carrick just out of date now no set up should put them back in top five.

worst pitches
up until there new spot inniskeen was the worst facility in ireland, more slops than the Alps but now, heres the top 5

Keeping in mind ive never been in toome, currin or Killeevan

1 Eire Og, its just cat
2. Oram, back ass of nowhere and is a terrible pitch, the stand is just an old slanted shed
3. Doohamlet, terrible pitch and the away ressing rooms are at the top of that godawful tower

to be honest the last 2 is a tough pick cause the majority of clubs in monaghan have a fairly good setups (although as i say i havent been to 3 of them). if i was to pick id probably have to say

4. Magheracloone and
5 and fergal o hanlons even thou theve only started.

plus. Corduff is some spot, possibly one of the best in the county, just need an excalator to the changing rooms and hot water for the showers.

Apart from Clones, Inniskeen is without doubt the best grounds in the county if not ulster. Parking is fantastic, so easy to get in to and away from and stand, field and general set up is nothing short of amazing. Here s hoping that Inniskeen get a couple of national league games this year!!!!

Honourable mentions for: Sean McDermots, Monaghan Harps, Corduff.

Also I hear there has been great developments in Aughnamullen and Latton but haven't witnessed them, can anyone confirm/deny?

Clones pitch can be absolute brutal though for getting cut up, too soggy for most of the year! I mind playing in aghabog once, and the sidelines were arked out by tractor wheel tracks... Currin, the forest side is a death trap, shes a god damn mire and ya dont slip in it, you lose boots in it! (and its too big!!) And kileevan, theres a hill on the pitch where when your sitting in the dug outs there (as i frequently have), you cannot for the life of ya see where the ball or the man with it is on the far side, over the crest of it!!

Alot of people have Scotstown as one of their best, and it is good, but I'd have Clontibret ahead of it. Good surface, perfect location(in that it's central), very good), parking facilities(compared to alot of grounds), good package all in all. Would be even better if they did something about the bank on the far side from the stand it would be even better, it can get slippy during league games which could be dangerous. Inniskeen is the best though, brilliant set-up, just out of the way.

Clontibret is a good pitch and as the earlier poster stated it has good parkin etc etc. However I for one think the dug-outs are extreamly dangerous. They are too close to the pitch, made of concrete and have a galvanised roof sticking out about head high. They also restrict some of the view of a match. There are other pitches with similar problems but for the amount of big club games Clontibret gets I'm surprised there haven't been a few injuries - I have seen a few near misses.

people, it gets absolutely no praise but the pitch at monaghan harps is quality, the only reason that there are no big games played there is because of access and traffic congestion, quality surface and excellent facilities.....

Once the harps get the stand sorted it will definitely be in my top 5.

I would agree. Its very hard to narrow the top 5 pitches down as there is some great facilities and clubs around monaghan.

In a way Monaghan is some what blessed in that regard. Youv only to look at pitches else where in the country whilst your on your travels just to see that. Monaghan club football facilities are at a very very high standard.
