I did not make it to the game but judging from the scoreline had we even twelve players on the field?

yea was at the match, little to take away only ciaran galligan played great in midfield, and gerard peirson scored a couple of great points from nearly impossible angles.but i wouldnt worry too much about it,when the league starts you will have the likes of,johnston.lyng,d,sheridan ,james reilly, barry watters, and durning the mc kenna cup what ever players playes well will be mixed with these to make up a squad for the league, but in all fairness our defence was dreadfull and why owen was in nets beats me he is brutal, and the new rules should be scraped ,it makes the games very scrappy and horrible to watch, dont want to be going to the league watching that ,theres was nothing wrong with the game the old way anyway !!.

just saw the Queens goals on the news last night and Eoghan Elliott looked very dodgy, especially on the first goal.
surely there are better options out there? who all played goals in the regional trials?

i would have though shane sheridan, james carolan or even ronan keaskin would have been better options than Elliott?

agree with the question marks over Eoghan Elliots appearance in the goals..his time has come and gone..

however i was absolutely shocked to see Joshua Hayes name in the paper...he never really impressed me at minor level and he hasn really come on since..there has to be better players out there?

Think Tommy needs to realise Eddie is over the hill and James Clarke has been tried before and showec he is below standard!

the reason joshua hayes played against queens and declan mc kiernan was because there are so many injuries in the panel they had an u-21 trial game against roscommon and they impressed so they wer asked 2 come and play because of the injuries the cavan panel had suffered also david givney wasnt supposed 2 play either because he has 2 play with sligo in the fbd league but was asked 2 play 2 because of the injuries in the panel fact

Yea apparently Ferncombe has withdrawn, something to do with when a weights programme was given to the panel there were only 15 sheets given out and when he asked for 1 was told he would be given 1 the next day. Then when he asked for 1 the next day he was told that it wasn't a finalised panel. More or else telling him he wasn't going to be on it, so he walked.

Johnston is still with DCU and ineligible for Cavan in the McKenna Cup. He is still out with the hamstring injury picked up in League Final and reoccured in the game against Ballinderry. He didn't play against Laois at the weekend.

Ronan Flanagan, Ray Cullivan, Michael Lyng and Barry Watters all played as far as I know. Ronan Flanagan apparently the star man for DCU. Martin Reilly played for DIT.

with all due respect to Mckiernan and Hayes its just a sad day when your county runs out of senior players and has to resort to players who might not even make the u21 panel..

I wouldnt read too much into the result though, at the end of the day its the McKenna Cup and I am glad Tommy is taking a gamble on a few fellas and seeing what they are like.

Its hard how many players are unavailable due to college football but sure what can you do.

However in my opinion Eddie has to go..and Elliott cannot be in the goals

is coleman playing with dcu aswell?? cause he mite be a better option in goals then elliot but james is the obvious choice.
