purple and gold football team

Some strange nominations and some very strange omissions. Watched Kilanerin 4 - 5 times this year and did see J Hegarty doing very much. Gordon Hughes had a good county final but did very little before that. I thought young Colm Kavanagh did well for them at full back. Some of the most consistent club players i watched all year, like Keith O Grady,Clive Lawlor, Seamus Hughes, Ambrose Stafford, dont even get nominated - dont know what games the selectors were watching.

Could someone please explain to me how John Hegarty got nominated??? I thought the nominations were based on your performances in 2008.

John Hegarty was injured for Kilanerin up to quarter finals, then was average against Horeswood and should have been substituted against both Clongeen and Gusserane. Every club supporter in the county knows that the purple and gold are a disaster and are picked on reputations, not consistent club form.

1. 3 players for each position should be the way it is done and ballot the managers of each club at the end of every season to pick the team. I would ballot the players but there are too many when you take into account all of the grades.

2. Have a purple and gold stars for intermediate down and one for senior and let them play each other rather than having them play the county team in a shambles of a match where the county team is decimated by the p&g stars selection. It may uncover a couple of players in the lower grades for county panels.

possible intermediate down football stars
1. Gavin Morris Rosslare
2. P.J Carley Glynn
3. Jonathan Waters Taghmon
4. Aidan Doyle Craanford
5. Paddy Whiteley Rathnure
6. Aindreas Doyle Taghmon
7. Mark Molloy St James
8. Michael Doyle Glynn
9. Brendan Doyle St James
10. Paul Carley Glynn
11. Patrick Codd Ferns
12. P.J Nolan Kilrush
13. Lloyd Colfer Taghmon
14. Patrick Byrne Kilmore
15. Patrick Sinnott Kilmore

Anybody any other suggestions?

Junior Hurler,
Brill idea also would get around the county team playing in ther closed season.
Wonder if there will be a match this year at all, hop so as the money does go to a good cause.

Hegarty must have alot of "influence" with the selectors has was barely worth his position this yr, Kilanerins young full back Colm Kavanagh and corner back Scut Byrne deserved nominations.

Surely aidan jones deserved a purple and gold all star for his outstanding defensive displays throughout the year for the champions KILANERIN.????

i still cant get over how mick doyle of glynn didnt get one...he is possibly the most natural and talented footballer in the county today and he shone very well in the county final and they were unlucky to be beaten.!!!
