Well what about Mullahoran GFC this year. Have they made progress this year. Just wondering how Pascal is getting on with his movement into club management. He was a real classy player, deserved to get an All-Ireland, shame he did'nt hang on until 2003. Would be interested to hear from Mullahoran GFC supporters who would know best.

Yeah he done well enough, although by Mullahoran's standards a final place is the minimum expected. Mullahoran were beaten in the Championship quarter-finals by eventual winners Cavan Gaels by a point. In fact it was the closest anyone has got to the Gaels all year. they should have won the match with two late scorable frees not converted. Pascal is still finding his feet, there are a coulple of good young players in the club, any maybe with a year under his belt, he could kick on and know his best team. Looking at them playing this year, there were a few players that I wouldn't have played, but he will learn from this. Hopefully they will do better next year and prevent the Gaels 3 in a row.

Mullahorn are nt as good as they think they are.they need to get rid of their big notions.They ve fantastic dressing rooms but it has put a strain on the club.

As for the team they punch above their weight & if Denn had to have got the leneancy Mullahorn got against The Gaels from the ref. we d have won.

Instead we got sms from the mullahorn ref which we ve swore as team & club we ll never forget.

Thanks Loughduff Lad, I agree that it takes a while to make the transition into management (Senior) but glad that Pascal has made a reasonable start. Hopefully Mullahoran GFC will have more sucess next year. I was looking at your county roll of honour and see that Cornafean are the strongest club in the county (historically) but they have won nothing since 1956. Why such a fall from grace - were they hit by emmigration or how could they have disappeared of the radar like that?

Yeah John Boss, i'm hoping so as well. Concerning Cornafean, I suppose they are just symptomatic of old rural Ireland. Back in the days, when there were large families and people farmed the land and did not generally leave home, they had a great team. Cornafean is actually in the middle of nowhere in Cavan. It is not close to a major town or road, and with smaller populations and families nowadays and people moving to large towns for college and work etc. and not returning, there are just not as many young people around to play ball. In fact, Cornafean normally amalgamate with Arva and Killashandra in underage competitions just to field a team. It is a shame to see how far they have fallen, seeing as they have a player on the team of the millennium, the great John Joe O'Reilly.

John boss, i believe the reason cornafean were so successful in the past is because the team used to be made up of basically the best players in west cavan. In the early-mid 1900's(im not exactly sure what year/decade) a rule was brought in that only players from senior clubs could play for cavan. Being the only senior club in west cavan at the time, cornafean attracted the best players from croghan, b'connel,bawnboy etc. as this was the only way they would get the chance to represent cavan..well, thats what my grandfather told me anyway!!

there some big talk coming from you. you say that we punch above our weight, you should look at yourselves. you didnt deserve to be in the final and your performance showed that. stick to what you know - mid table mediocrity. leave the big games to the big clubs. we have a good team and great clubrooms, not like a certain club from crosskeys. as for comment about the ref in the final, i dont think even if he gave you every single free possible you still wouldnt be good enough.

Hurl08 I dont recognoise mullahorn as the big club.kingscourt Cavan gaels Crosserlough 4th place is up for grabs.I don t think you ve the talent comming on to fullfill that trend. I d rather be mid table than mullahorn the last three years.As 4 championship you ve 1 & when we get there we ll be equal.

In fairness Dennman, mullahoran had 3 players in this years county minor panel. Denn had none its not that often they have a player on it either same with u16 and u21..

hey denn man, i didnt see you last saturday in crosskeys, in fact i didnt see any denn men all i saw were denn boys. the dreadnoughts beat you with half a team.
you say those teams are above us but i would put the following teams above you - in no particular order the gaels, the dreadnoughts, gowna, belturbet, redhills, ramor, killygarry, culcullians, lacken, ballinagh, kingscourt, castlerahan. as you can see i dont even rate you as a mid-table team, i was just being nice the last time. i know you beat a few of these teams this year but that dosent make you better than them. how you got to the final this year i will never know. at least you provided the beat laugh of the day with the boot incident.

also check the history books - i think we have more than one championship win to our name.

I don't know about team, but Mullahoran are certainly the best club in Cavan when it comes to covering all aspects of the GAA.

I think you ll find when you beat somebody in any aspect of Life.Technically yes your better than them.

As for the Denn game two poor sides no big deal.

As regards a History lesson on Denn.Our parish is very small and our Club was only founded 45 years ago.But apart from this were moving in the right direction.We ll maintain ore senior status for the forseeable future & with keogan on Board.Our new manager we will win a senior very soon

How are Mullahoran the best club in Cavan, covering all aspects? They have a couple of great handballers, including but no facilities for them. Imagine, the best handballer in the world has no home alley. They have no Camogie team. You must be talking about the rounders son.

They have a 60x30 handball court but's it not in great shape.

They do have a thriving ladies club, have some of the best facilities in the county, have one of the best hurling clubs in the province at their level and have won All Irelands in rounders. They also have a good Scor section.

Cavan 'Gaels' on the other hand didn't field a hurling team last year. Their handball club folded and the players set up a new club altogether last year. They have no Scor section. They have no rounders section. They, shamefully given the population of Cavan town, have no ladies section.

Their facilities are terrible for a club of their size.

Ok ill give you that much, the gaels are a disgrace if you ask me. I was talking to a fellow from Lacken there recently. He was telling me they have mens and ladies football at all grades, camogie at all levels, and underage hurling. They have scor too i think. Cavan gaels might win team of the year but defo dont deserve club of the year.

Not to mention that they were very unlucky not to have won the county championship this year. Had those two frees went over against the Gaels they'd of surely been on route for their 12th Cavan SFC title.
