Fighting Cocks to make Carlow SFC bow

July 25, 2013

The Fighting Cocks celebrate their 2012 Carlow IFC final win.
The Fighting Cocks club will finally make their bow in the Carlow senior football championship.

Having won the intermediate title last year, the club then were informed that they wouldn't be playing in the senior championship as there was a new format being introduced.

The club appealed this to the Leinster Council and after months of discussion, they won the appeal and last year's format remains intact for another year.

This Saturday evening, they will take on Kilbride in the SFC and manager Pat Nolan believes that that they can hold their own in the top flight.

"I believe myself we will cause an upset along the way. There will be nothing between us, Kilbride and Kildavin-Clonegal," Nolan told the Carlow Nationalist.

"If you win one game, you could be assured of a play off to stay senior. There is no wriggle room but we know where we stand from the start. We can have no complaints."
