April 04, 2005
The Parish of Cill Chluana celebrated an Easter football 'double' with success for Ballymacnab and Granemore in the Mid-Cup and Mid-Shield competitions respectively. The Granemore side caused a major upset with a convincing 1-13 to 0-9 success over a fancied Armagh Harps side. It was 0-8 to 0-3 at the interval for the Granemore side and a Philip McBurney goal sealed the surprise result in the end. With Brendan Doyle and Barry Toner controlling the midfield sector the St. Mary's side were deserving winners in the end. The club had further successes with the seniors winning the McVerry Cup defeating their neighbours St. Michael's from Newtownhamilton and the clubs minor side winning the annual Dromintee tournament. Ballymacnab defeated Tullysaran 3-7 to 0-11 with the winners goals coming from Joe Gribben, Brian McCone and sub, Ryan Harvey. All in all a great and productive start to the season for the clubs in the Parish of Cill Chluana.
