Cavan GAA is in mourning following the sudden passing of former county footballer Hugh Reynolds from Ballyjamesduff.

A retired Garda, Hugh lined out at full-forward on the St Patrick's College team which achieved MacRory and Hogan Cup glory in 1972.

His two goals were instrumental in their All-Ireland semi-final success over St Jarlath's of Tuam that year.

Poignantly, the Cavan nursery will contest their first MacRory Cup final since 1975 next Tuesday when they take on St Patrick's Academy of Dungannon.

The Killeshandra native - who represented Cavan at all levels in football - was planning on attending the final which is to be played at The Athletic Grounds.
