Reserve championship for Castlerahan

Division 1A Reserve Championship
Congratulations to our junior team who won the Division 1A reserve championship on Monday afternoon in Lavey defeating a strong Lacken side on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-04.

Cavan v Kerry
Commiserations to the Cavan team and management on their exit from the All-Ireland race after a commendable defeat to Kerry on Sunday. Great progress has been made by the team in 2013, in both Ulster and the qualifier series. Their journey has renewed the hope and faith of every Cavan GAA supporter the world over and we look forward to what 2014 has in store. Integral to the team was the services of two of our clubmen - Ronan Flanagan and Cian Mackey. They both have been great ambassadors for our club during the campaign, putting in some great displays. We are immensely proud of them, well done lads. Congratulations to Cian who was awarded the BBC Man of the Match award for his performance against Kerry.

Stags and Hens
Just a few days to go until we stage Yellow Moon Theatre Company's production of the Willy Russell play "Stags and Hens" in St. Joseph's Hall, Ballyjamesduff. The show starts on Sunday at 8pm - be sure not to miss it. To be in with the chance of winning two tickets, check out the competition on our Facebook page. The winner will be announced on Saturday evening, around 9pm. Tickets will be available on the door on the night, at just €10, or can be bought at Ballyjamesduff Credit Union or from the majority of senior players and committee members. Gerry Reilly tournament
Well done to Daire McEnroe and his Cavan U16 teammates who progressed to the final of the Gerry Reilly tournament having defeated Wicklow in Millbrook, Oldcastle on Monday on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-11. The side go on to meet Dublin in the final - fixture TBC.

Blotto
Numbers drawn 29 July; 13, 27, 28 & 32. No jackpot winner. Five prizes of €30 each to the following; Kay McSherry, G Finglas, Teddy McQuaid, Geraldine Watson and Fintan Tierney. The jackpot stands at €4,600 as of Monday, 5th August. The park development committee has use of the blotto for one more week and would appreciate your continued strong support. The club is always looking for volunteers to help sell blottos on Saturday mornings around Ballyjamesduff. If you can spare an hour or two, please reply to this mail.

Senior championship
Coinciding with Cavan's defeat to Kerry is the commencement of the senior club championship next weekend. Preliminary round games between Cavan Gaels and Lacken and Ramor United and Drumgoon are up first. Castlerahan commence their campaign on Friday, 16th August at 8pm in Lavey. Opposition will be provided by Redhills.

Senior league
The seniors resumed competitive action on Friday evening last after a four week hiatus eking out a win over Lacken who enjoyed a second half resurgence having scored just one point in the first half. Final scoreline; Castlerahan 1-09 to 0-11 Lacken. There are just two games remaining in the league - a home fixture against Lavey and an away fixture against Ramor United.

Minor championship
The minor team (amalgamating with Lavey again this year) begin the defence of the 'A' division title they won in emphatic fashion last October on Tuesday evening next, 13th August when they take on Ramor United at 8pm. Venue to be confirmed. The team is putting in a strong effort at training; they had a challenge game against Denn on Saturday evening which they won comfortably and will have another at some stage during the week.

U16 championship
The U16 championship begins on Friday evening when Castlerahan will host Ramor United in Fay Park. Throw in at 7.30pm. Best of luck to the boys and their management team.

U14
The U14 side are continuing to train hard for their upcoming championship, although no draw has yet been made. They played Denn in a challenge game on Friday evening last.

U8, U10 football
There has been no confirmation of the autumn series of blitzes for either age group. Training will resume when the blitzes are announced.

U8, U10 hurling
Training was cancelled on Wednesday evening last because of inclement weather conditions but will resume this Wednesday at 6.30pm in Ballyjamesduff. The club is exploring the option of running a hurling camp for three days next week (Tuesday - Thursday, 10.30am to 1.30pm) costing just €10 per child for the three days.
