The Inaugural Mamie O'Meara Intermediate Championship
An Rinn 1-11 Cappoquin 1-3
2012 marked the first year of the Waterford County Intermediate Championship, The Mamie O' Meara Intermediate Cup was kindly donated by the family of the late Mamie O'Meara who was a member of the 1945 Waterford camogie team who were defeated by Antrim in Cappoquin in the All Ireland final. Mamie is also the only Waterford lady to hold an all Ireland Senior Camogie medal when she captured an All Ireland title playing with Dublin in the 1940's. Waterford County board decided to name the Intermediate Championship in honour of this famous lady.
An Rinn and Cappoquin were the first two teams to contest this inaugural final in Ardmore on Saturday last September 29th. The first half of this game with An Rinn dominating holding Cappoquin to a mere 0-1 for the whole half and scoring 1-10 themselves with former County player Deirdre Ní Fhathaigh scoring an impressive 1-4 of this. The second half saw cappoquin coming out of the blocks first on the fourth minute of the half with Lorraine Bray slotting over a point from a free, but this was the only score for them for the next twenty six minutes when Jess Gavin Johnson hit the back of the An Rinn net on the 30th minute. In the mean time An Rinn were unable to capitalize for the whole half scoring only 1 point courtesy of Deirdre Ní Fhataigh from a free in the dying minutes, it was Cappoquins Jennie McCarthy who finished the scoring of the game on the 31st minute with a consolation point. It was little too late for Cappoquin as An Rinn came out comprehensive winners on a score line of An Rinn 1-11 cappoquin 1-3

County Senior Final
St. Annes 1-12 Lismore 0-9
County Senior Champions for 2010 and 2011 and Munster Intermediate Champions 2010 and 2011 Lismore were all out to capture the 2012 once again for the 3rd year in a row when they played arch rivals St. Anne's in the County Senior final in Ardmore on Saturday last September 29th. This game was set to be a very close and entertaining affair, with both teams ending in a draw earlier in the championship rounds with Lismore coming out victors in the replay earning themselves a place in the County final. St. Annes went on to play Gaultier in the semi-final in which St. Anne's came out comprehensive winners.
The County final indeed lived up to its expectations with both teams contesting very hard tackles. The first half of this very entertaining game was very low scoring with Lismore edging ahead at half time on a score line of Lismore 0-3 St. Anne's 0-2. Scoring in the second half was a bit more intense but the strengthening wind had a major factor to play with both sides having a few near misses but did not spoil the great camogie that was being played. County player St. Annes Jennie Simpson was very impressive on the day winning and distributing the ball which put St.Annes in a comfortable positon on the 20th minute of the half when a low hit free from her, 30m out went straight to the back of the Lismore net.Score at this stage was St. Annes 1-6 Lismore 0-5. This did not over awe the brave Lismore girls who kept plugging away with Aoife Hannon very impreesive for them on the day scoring all their scores except one both from frees and play. Lismore had an uphill battle to play as they were missing two of their key players Ruth Geoghegan and Grainne Kenneally due to injuries in previous games. Despite the Lismore girls determination it wasn't to be their day with St. Annes coming out winners on a score line of St. Annes 1-12 Lismore 0-9.
Scorers for St. Annes; J. Simpson 1-2f, N. Rockett 0-1, K. Kelly 0-2, S. Cummins 0-3, Z. O' Donoghue 0-2
Scorers for Lismore; A. Hannon 0-5f 0-3, S. Kiernan 0-1
