Kelly to referee hurling final

August 19, 2008

Westmeath referee Barry Kelly
Barry Kelly will referee his second All-Ireland SHC final in three years after he was named the man in the middle for the meeting of Kilkenny and Waterford. Westmeath man Kelly took control of the 2006 decider when Kilkenny denied Cork of a three in a row with a 1-16 to 1-13 win at Croke Park. Waterford will be hoping that might be an omen as they will be trying to deny Brian Cody's side a hat trick of titles on September 7. Cathal McAllister of Cork will take charge of the minor final involving Kilkenny and Galway following today's announcement by the Central Referees Appointment Control Committee.
