Killeigh picked up 2 valuable points with this 7 point victory, making the better start with points from Alan Plunkett, James Condron, and converted frees by Padraic Horan, Killeigh led by 0-8 to 0-3 at half time in a good first half.
Killeigh added 2 points in the second half, and when Gus O'Brien added a goal, Killeigh led by 1-10 to 5 points. St Rynagh's put pressure on Killeigh's defence who restricted them to 5 points in the half. 2 Killeigh points saw the final score 1-12 to 8 points in favour of the home side.
Killeigh now play Killurin in their last game, to be played in the next 2 weeks. Junior Football Championship. Thursday 14th August 2008. Ferbane 1-12 Killeigh 1-6. Killeigh were away to Ferbane in their final group match losing by 6 points.
Darragh O'Brien opened the scoring with the first of his 3 points, but Ferbane dominated afterwards, scoring 1-7 the goal coming just before the break. Killeigh had some chances but did not take them. In the second half, Killeigh introduced a number of subs. and scored 1-3, Darragh O'Brien's late penalty did not alter the result.
Killeigh might have added a few more scores with a little more luck. Scorers: Darragh O'Brien 1-3 penalty and 3 frees. Mark Egan, Enda Gorman, and Gus O'Brien scored a point each. For those interested in statistics, Killeigh scored 4-18, and conceded 2-37 in their 3 games.
