The late Paddy O'Hara
August 17, 2008
A minute's silence was observed before yesterday's All-Ireland football quarter-final as a mark of respect to the late Paddy O'Hara of Antrim.
Paddy was an accomplished footballer, and was a key figure in the Antrim team that regained the Ulster senior football title after a long wait in 1946. After his playing career ended, he became a successful manager and had spells in charge of six of the nine Ulster counties.
He later became well known as a GAA commentator on both BBC and RTE. Paddy also won a GAA McNamee Hall of Fame Award in 1990 and was a member of the All-Stars selection committee.
