Next weeks jackpot is ?2,800 with the draw taking place in High Chaparel, Geashill on Monday 18 Aug DIV 4 HURLING LEAGUE The Raheen Hurlers suffered another defeat to neighbours Gracefield in their league encounter last Friday evening in Gracefield on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-08. Gracefield opened the scoring with a point inside the first minute but Raheen got the ideal response in the 3rd minute when Jason Hassett sent a pass into the square which was picked up by Cathal Maher who saw his first and second shots saved but with his third shot blasted the ball to the net for the opening goal. The sides then added a point apiece over the following 4 minutes with the Raheen score from Ciaran Direen. Gracefield then control and dominated play over the following 15 minutes during which time they added 6 points without reply before Raheen responded with a point from Cathal Maher in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute Gracefield made their dominace pay when they scored their goal. This saw Gracefield leading at the break by 1-08 to 1-02. The sides then open the second half by exchanging 2 points apiece inside the first 7 minutes with the Raheen scores both frees from Ciaran Direen. Raheen hit their best spell of the game over the following 5 minutes by adding 3 points without reply from Ciaran Direen & Brian Kennedy(2) which enabled Raheen to cut the defecit to 3 points . The following 10 minutes remained scoreless as both sides missed good scoring opportunites. In the 22nd minute Gracefield got the decisive score with a point to extend the lead to 4 points before the sides swapped a point apiece over the following 5 minutes with the Raheen score from Ciaran Direen which proved to be final score. Gracefield had a golden opportunity in the final minute to put a gloss on the winning margin when they were awarded a penalty but Raheen keeper Padraig Direen made a fine save to deny them.
