McDonnell happy to be still there

Armagh manager Peter McDonnell admitted that his side lost their way somewhat in the second half of the Ulster final on Sunday and he is happy to have a chance to rectify that.
The Orchard County side let an eight-point advantage slip, as they looked to be on their way to capturing a seventh Anglo-Celt Cup in ten years when Ronan Clarke's shot hit the net moments into the restart. Fermanagh then produced a superb final quarter to level at the death, and McDonnell insists that his team had been working on closing out late flourishes from the opposition.
"This has been the challenge all along, and it's the challenge for every team, to keep going all the time, moment by moment, minute by minute. We were doing that."
The Mullaghbawn clubman introduced both Paddy McKeever and Oisin McConville in the second-half to try and kill off the game, but McDonnell admitted that the switches just didn't work for his side on Sunday.
"With the best interests of the game in mind, I'm trying to get fresh legs on and drive the game home because we were in the ascendancy at that stage. There was no way we could have legislated for what happened in the last 20 minutes.
"Paddy McKeever and Oisin McConville, who came in there, are both proven Championship footballers for Armagh but it just didn't work out for us today. But we are still in the Ulster final," said McDonnell.
