Aughavas open new facilities

July 11, 2008
Aughavas GAA celebrated the official opening of their new dressing rooms and gymnasium last Sunday. County board chairman Gerry McGovern was on hand to perform the opening of the new facilities which have been named after the late Paddy Joe McGovern. It was a proud day for the Aughavas club officers, who include Terry Williams (chairman), Joseph Maguire (secretary) and Anthony Brennan (treasurer). McGovern paid tribute to the Aughavas club for the development and expressed his gratitude to the McGovern brothers for their continued support of both Aughavas and Leitrim GAA. The official opening concluded a hectic weekend for Aughavas who held their annual Golf Classic on Saturday. A great weekend for the club was rounded off when they defeated Carrigallen in a tournament game for the Heslin Cup.
