McGrath tipped for full back role

Waterfords Ken McGrath
Speculation is mounting that Ken McGrath will be named at full back on the Waterford team for Saturday's All-Ireland hurling qualifier against Antrim.
The fit-again Mount Sion clubman has long been viewed as one of the top centre backs in the game, but new Waterford manager Davy Fitzgerald is believed to be giving serious consideration to moving him to the edge of the square and help shore up the team's leaky defence.
Full back has been a problem position for the Deise in recent times, and never was this more apparent than in last year's All-Ireland semi-final when they conceded five goals against Limerick. Declan Prendergast filled the number three jersey for much of 2007, but he switched to centre back for the Munster SHC first round defeat to Clare while McGrath was out injured.
Kevin Moran operated on the edge of the square on that occasion, but looked uncomfortable as Clare broke through for two goals. If McGrath starts at full back, Tony Browne could switch to centre back from the right wing.
And with Antrim coming off the back of a crushing defeat to Galway last weekend, Saturday's game may be Fitzgerald's only opportunity to carry out such experiments ahead of the tougher tests which are sure to lie ahead.
