Moore says Galway are more settled

June 25, 2008
Galway defender Fergal Moore believes the Tribesmen are a far more settled team than last year when manager Ger Loughnane was still familiarising himself with the players. The Westerners will fly to Belfast on Saturday to face Ulster champions Antrim in what they hope will be the first step towards a first All-Ireland title in 20 years. Already this year, they Tribesmen have shown glimpses of what they are capable of by qualifying for the National League final. "I think it is more settled," corner back Moore said. "The panel isn't a whole lot different but I think we all know in the years before that training probably wasn't as tough as it should have been. It wasn't as structured. "Ger had to put that in place when he came in and obviously it's a new county, it's a new bunch of players. It's definitely more settled this year and I think it's more the fact that we had more time together, he knows us more now and he knows how to get the best out of us." Galway are raging hot favourites to see off Antrim this weekend, but Moore isn't taking anything for granted. "The Antrim game is going to be a very tough match for us so we'll have to be at our best for that and try and leave a bit to go later on in the championship if all goes well for us."
