A club versus county row has erupted in Clare ahead of next month's Munster SHC final against Tipperary. A full round of club fixtures have been scheduled for next weekend, but Clare manager Mike McNamara wants them postponed so that he can prepare his team for the Gaelic Grounds decider on July 13. "I need three weeks with the team for this game. It's a very important game for Clare hurling and while I would be sympathetic towards clubs, I feel every effort should be made to give us the best possible chance of winning," he said. However, the Scariff man isn't holding out much hope, especially in light of how the county board reacted when his predecessor Tony Considine made a similar request last year. "I don't think I'll get anywhere with my request. There were decisions made here in the last few years that I feel weren't the correct ones but anyway we'll get on with it." McNamara, who is planning for the provincial final without Brendan Bugler following his straight red card against Limerick, is keeping his fingers crossed that Tony Griffin will recover from the hamstring injury which forced him to retire after just 22 minutes of last Sunday's game.
