Clones to host Ulster final
June 23, 2008
As expected, St. Tiernach's Park in Clones has been confirmed as the venue for this year's Ulster football final between Fermanagh and Down/Armagh on Sunday, July 20.
It follows a meeting of the Ulster Council's Central Controls Committee on Saturday night. It will be an all-ticket affair, and tickets will be available through the usual outlets, including county boards. The senior final, which will have a 2pm throw-in, will be preceded by the minor final at 12 noon.
Having been staged at Croke Park for four consecutive years, the Ulster final returned to its spiritual home of Clones last year when Tyrone were winners over Monaghan. There were suggestions that this year's final may be moved back to Croke Park, but this was ruled out after the Leinster football final was fixed for the same day.
