'Celebrity Bainisteoir' final on May 16
April 26, 2008
The final of the popular RTE programme 'Celebrity Bainisteoir' will take place in Parnell Park on May 16 and if you don't want to know who the finalists are, we suggest you look away now!
This Sunday's programme will see the last of the four quarter-finals between Maryland (Westmeath) and Ballymanus (Wicklow) played out. The game took place several weeks ago and resulted in a 0-9 to 0-6 victory for Maryland, who are managed by Marty Whelan. Maryland travelled to Derry last weekend to play Nell McCaffrey's Faughanvale in the semi-final and once again emerged winners by 2-7 to 1-6.
The Westmeath side will now square up to Gerald Kean's Mayfield after the Cork side defeated Mayo's Kiltimagh, managed by former Rose of Tralee Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain, in the other semi-final.
Both teams are now preparing for the decider in three weeks' time at Parnell Park where admission will be free. It is believed that Mayfield are running three buses from Cork for the final, while Maryland are also expected to bring big support from the midlands.
RTE bosses are said to be delighted with the viewing figures recorded for the series so far, meaning a second series is likely to be commissioned.
