Cha Fitzpatrick Kilkenny
James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick looks set to be appointed by Brian Cody's management team as the new Kilkenny senior hurling captain in succession to clubmate Henry Shefflin.
Fitzpatrick has been nominated by the Ballyhale Shamrocks club to lead the Cats this year, in line with a club rotation policy.
"It's hard to express how much of an honour this is and I am very lucky to have it. It's a good time to be a Ballyhale hurler and I know it's the club and all the lads on the panel that have given me this opportunity," Fitzpatrick commented.
"Not having been able to play because of an injury in last year's county final, I'm all the more grateful for what my team-mates achieved.
"I only hope to go out and do justice to their efforts when wearing the county jersey." Kilkenny have never lost an All-Ireland senior final with a Ballyhale player as the team-captain.
